I was just wondering how many of you have had (-) urine & blood tests only to find out in your 2nd or 3rd month that you were actually pregnant? With my 1st (8 yrs ago) I had 8 neg urine tests. I finally got a (+) blood test (at home, my moms a nurse) after I had missed my 2nd period. I have been ttc again for 2 1/2 years. I had some weird cycles in 2002 (every other month for about 9 months) I went to the Dr. finally & he said it had to do with my insulin levels being high (not diabetic), put me on Glucophage & Clomid in March 2003. Finally conceived in Oct 2003 through insemination but m/c at 6 weeks. I got (+) on first day late with that one. After m/c my periods have been regular up until Aug. 1/24, 2/24, 3/26, one week late 5/5, 6/6, 7/8. Now I have not had period since 7/8. I've taken 6 HPT's. 1 VERY faint, possibly (+) 8/26. 1 home blood test 8/30 VERY faint, possibly (+), & 2 blood test at DR.'s 8/13 & 9/2 both (-). Not sure about 1st blood test but know for sure 2nd one was quantative. I have had a lot of symptoms, I feel pregnant, just not sure if it is all in my head. I am planning to wait until this weekend to see if I start this cycle. If not I'm going to call Dr. & make them set up & ultrasound to see if we can see anything going on. Just curious about other experiences & looking for some encouragement. Thanks alot.

So with your first child, you were two months pregnant or two and a half months pregnant before it actually showed up positive? were you using the early result tests or just the regular ones? i am having the same problems and am not sure when to go to the doc. i would be about 6.5 weeks preg right now if i am, which i think i am.

Ca__sie, I used just about every name brand out there. Early result & regular. It was very frustrating. My mom is a nurse & at the time she worked for the city jail and they had tests (dropper type) that you could use either urine or blood serum on. So she had brought one of those home for me to take. I took it & it came out (-). So a week or 2 later she brought a couple more home. I took 1 that morning & used urine & it was (-), then that evening we decided to draw my blood & try it that way & it came up (+) immediately. I have been trying to remember exactly how far alon I was when we finally got that & the best I can remember, my LMP then was around 2/12-2/16 & I think my 1st Dr. appt was in May so I am pretty sire that it was around the middle of April or so before I finally got the (+) result so that would have mede me about 8-10 weeks along. I say go ahead & call the Dr. Have you had any blood tests yet?

I'm haing the same problem as well. I would be a little over 10 weeks if I was. I've taken numerous urine tests and 2 blood tests so far- all negative. I'm still waiting for the results of my most recent blood tesr. I'll be sure to post when I find out for sure.

Hi Erin, Sorry to hear that you are in the same boat, but it helps to know that I am not alone. It gets really hard to stay optimistic & hopeful when you get let down time & time again, but from what I've seen on this site there is a lot of support here. Please let me know how your test turns out. I have read other posts on here about people finally getting (+)'s, do you have any idea why this happens & why it takes some people so long to get a (+)?

Ca__sie, lots of luck to you! While you are there tell them that you want an ultra sound too. Even if it turns out that you aren't pregnant then something is going on to cause you to be late. It wouldn't hurt to take a look & see if you can see anything going on. Please let me know what you find out. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I have no idea why some women don't get positive tests until later on, or why they would be making less hcg and it be okay. I do know that with my daughter I didn't test positve until I was 2 months along. I also know that this is so frustrating!!! What's meant to be is meant to be I guess, and we'll just have to be patient. I agree, something must be going on if we don't get our periods. Hang in there! and Ca__sie too, we'll get through it- one painfully slow day at a time :)

stephanie---at what point can an ultrasound detect an embryo? at how many weeks along? i just hope that low hcg levels don't mean miscarriage. Last week, about a week after my period was due (the day after i'd had s_x) there was this glob of mucous dishcarge that came out when i wiped, but it was tinged pink. Do you think that this is normal? i heard it is normal after s_x. it was the only time it happened and now there is discharge on and off. is it ok to have a lot one day and then not as much the next day or should it stay constant? please let me know what you think about this. thanks

Ca__sie, When I had the insemination done I was scheduled to go in at 6 1/2 weeks for an ultrasound. The Dr. said that we would be able to see the baby & the heartbeat on the ultrasound at that point. But I didn't make it to that point before I miscarried. So if you are pregnant & as far along as you think you are they should be able to see it. As far as the mucous goes, if you are pregnant that would be perfectly normal. It is your body's way of keeping bacteria & stuff out of your womb. I have had quite a bit of mucous myself the past few weeks. Some days it is heavier than others. I think the important thing is that it not have a strong foul odor, as that would possibly indicate some type of infection.

Hi Ca__sie, I was so happy to see your posting. I am about the same place you are. July 24th was first day of lmp. Feel pg, have had SEVERAL negative hpts and one negative blood test at 5 weeks and 2 days. Still feel pg. Talked to dr. yesterday and he wanted to start me on progesterone to see if that would get period going. That sounds CRAZY to me. Anyone heard of that? Could I still be pg with all negative tests?

Hi Julie, It is very possible to still be pregnant and get negative test results. There are numerous posts on this site where ladies have been 2, 3 or even 4 months along before they get a positive test. I read one just this morning that someone didn't find out that they were pregnant until 6 mos. I am now late for my 2nd month. My LMP was 7/8/04. With my first child I was at least 8-10 weeks before I got a (+) test. I too have had several (-) test this time but like you I FEEL pregnant. I say trust your body and make your Dr. listen to you. I plan to wait out the weekend & if I do not start my period, I am going to call the Dr. and tell them that I want an ultrasound. Even if it turns out that I am not pregnant, something is causing me to miss my period & feel this way & I want to know what it is. Hang in there! There are a bunch of us hanging right there with you!

Thanks Stephanie, that helps. I'm either pregnant or I am crazy. I was just in the bathroom peeing AGAIN and felt like I could just sit there and sleep for awhile I am so tired. Very strange. My next mp would be due September 14th or so, if I don't get it, i'm going back to the Dr. He wants me to take progesterone to make my period start. Sounds crazy to me!!

Julie, I have actually taken the Provera once before in July 2001 to get me started and it was the worst experience I have ever had. I felt like I wanted to crawl out of my skin. At the time I believed that blood test were foul-proof and thought this was the only thing to do. The next month when I missed my period again, I did not take anything and I did completely skip that month but I started right on time the next month. I had just come off the pill & I think my body just needed some time to adjust. Even if you are not pregnant, I would not suggest the Provera until an absolute last resort.

It's good to know that I am not alone. 2 Preg. test and 1 at Dr's. (urine) all neg. my cycle is now 4 weeks late (almost 5 weeks). No sickness yet. Cervix is high and chest is larger and having aches and pain. With prev. kids took 6 weeks before sickness started, If I am preg., I now have 5 days since conception before my 6 weeks. Wanted to take blood test when I went to the Dr, but she thought that there's no need. Her advice, "either 1 or 2 things will happen, your cycle will eventually start or you'll be back and have a + preg. test". Thought that advice was not worth it. My cycles are usually 6 weeks apart. I haven't missed a cycle sine my teenage years, I am now in my 30's. So I guess all I can do is wait. If I'm not preg. Apparently something else is wrong and my Dr. should have drawn blood or did some exam to find out why.

Sharon, This is Stephanie. I posted the question here. I finally got a + test (at home my mom drew my blood like before) on 9/13. I go to the Dr. next Tuesday 21st to confirm. I am going to ask him why it took so long to be positive. I will post when I get an answer. Alyssa, If s____n comes into contact with the v____a it is possible to become pregnant. Now usually this would not happen if you were not having s_x, but if for some reason your v____a is exposed to s____n it is possible to become pregnant. Hope that helps.
