How does this effect the baby? Has any one had this experiance?

My sister-in-law had this happen to her. She had to be induced at 8 months and her son ended up weighing 3 lbs 5 oz. At first she had high amounts of protein in her urine and was sent to a specialist. They found out the her placenta was calciumized and her son wasn't receiving any nourishment, which resulted in very low birth weight.
