the test came back and looked negative. there was a faint line that looked as it may be positive. will both lines be equally dark if the test is positive?

Not necessarily... if you got a line - even a very faint one - within the time alloted for the test to be valid, you are most likely pregnant. Congrats!

If you got a faint line like vanessa said, you are most likely pregnant. I'd retest again just to see.
