I just found out the I am pregnant! I am about 9 weeks and I am very happy yet freaked out! This is my second child. My first child just turned 20!! 20 years not months! I have no others! I have no idea what to expect with this second one. I can barely remember my pregnancy with my first one. I was only 16! Should I treat this one like a 'first' since it has been so long or can I expect the 'typical' second time symptoms? Has anyone else been through this situation or is currently? I'd just like to hear others thoughts and stories. Thanks!

Hi! Wow, 20 years :) Congrats! I just had my son 5 months ago. My other is turning 12 years old... Not quite 20, but hopefully I can help. It was like starting over have having my first. I found this last pregnancy to be a little harder due to Gestational diabetes and hypertension which I didn't have when I was much younger. The pain of labor seemed more intense to me too - I had my first one naturally and begged for the epidural with my second. hehehe... To his credit, my second son was induced a week early, so labor was going to be more intense with the pitocin. Anyway, it's exactly like starting all over. Can't say it's like riding a bicycle because I don't remember much of when my first was a baby. Guess I blocked it out of my head - lol... Good luck!! (There are 13 years difference between me and my older sister and she is my only sibling. If you are worried about the relationship between the two of them, don't be... The older I get, the more I have in common with my sister and the better our relationship gets) Good luck!!

Thanks so much Jas for responding. Everything has been 'new' again so this is like the 'first' all over again. So far so good though. I am doing well and haven't had any major issues. Everything is a little harder though b/c I am older but I think I will do okay. It is just scary at first to think I haven't done this for 20 years!! I'm sure my son and this one will have a special relationship as you and your sister do and your children will. Thanks again and Best wishes to you!
