Hi everyone, I am 42 and TTC. Started going to a fertility clinic last year and have been on parlodel since november because of an elevated prolactin problem. This will be my first cycle doing IUI if my levels come down enough. I have also taken Femara this month to boost my ovulation(my doc likes it better than clomid)All these meds are making me nuts but I am trying to persevere because the clock is ticking as they say. I am so glad I found this forum as many words of encouragement are greatly appreciated.

Hi mmelo ... :) I'm totally glad too. : ) I'm 37 .... DH & I ttc this month again. Will this be your 1st pregnancy ? We are still ttc on our own but thinking of other options ... could tell me more about IUI on a personal account(how do you feel etc). Take care : ) : )

Hi , i am 41 TTC for about 5 minths now, this will be my first baby ever if it works. we are ttc naturally for now, we are going to give it a year, then we might think of other options. good luck all. you are right this site is a good place to come for encouragement. it makes feel you are not alone in this.

Hello ladies! So nice to hear from you. Yes, this too is my first baby ever. It is kinda a long story. 15 years ago we went to a fertility clinic, the doctors told us my husband was sterile. Which totally devastated him. (old school european background) He didn't want to deal with it and back then there was not as many options as there is now and we were still young so we thought we'd let it go for a while and concentrate on other things. We have our own business, so that kept us super busy and stressed, we travelled a bit, etc, etc, and one day I woke up and I was 40 and it hit me like a ton of bricks. So off I went again to a new fertility clinic(these people are sympathetic and encouraging, it's just been amazing). Anyways this is my first try. I had my day 14 ultra sound today and my follicle was at 1.9 so we will be doing TDI(IUI) tomorrow. I am excited and scared a little. For Sann, basically, IUI is intra-uterine insemination, and because of my husband's situation we are using a donor. I will be injecting myself with an HCG shot tonite to trigger ovulation and tomorrow morning they will thaw the sample that has been ordered and the doc will inject it with a syringe thru my cervix into my uterus and then we wait two weeks to see what happens! Wish me luck!!!

Hi !.. over 40 : ) I've been browsing this site hoping to learn from other moms & moms-to-be and I stumbled onto a thread exchanging "views" on women over 35yrs who are trying to get pregnant, do you think we are "old". I still feel under 25 & I don't think I look 37. Just days a ago, at the clinic when I was due for a follow up, while waiting, I had a causal chat with a follow "patient"(1st pregnancy & in her 10th week), she thought that I was younger and she's 10 years my junior. I feel, women over 35 & TTC tend to keep ourselves more healthy & youthful for our "babies-to-be"!!! : ) By the way, this will be our 2nd pregnancy .... do keep me posted. God bless & take care. : ) : ) : )

Sann, i hear you dear. i feel i am still 19. but this means nothing specially when people keep reminding you of the clock ticking :). they make you feel its time to dig the grave and jump in. when you tell anybody that you are trying for a baby, the first reaction is, oh , can you? i am helthy and fit. my doctor thinks that nothing is previnting me from being pregnant. on th etop of al of that, i have faith, i know GOD, will be there for me . just have the faith Sann.

Hi.. over40 : ) You can say that again! When I turned 30 ... people were telling that my "eggs" were getting old, after my miscarriage, they had to rub it in with the "I told you so". In my opinion .. most couples who put pregnancy hold ... love kids cos like Dh & I, we needed to be 110% sure that we can provide our kids with the best to our abilities. Babies do not live on love alone, that's what I tell people who think , Dh & I, are selfish .... putting our careers first before child bearing. Besides ... who's to judge us, when and whether we can or can't have babies, they don't live our lives! Hope to heard from you soon. Take care : ) : ) : )

Hi Sann, I tried to get pregnant when I was in my mid 20s, I went through IVF 3 times, at age 25/ 26/ 29. None worked because of the quality of the sperms that my X husband had. At that time nobody felt bad for me that I had to go through all of this for nothing. I gained weight like you can’t imagine, I went from size 8 to size 18. Now, I am married to this great guy, and we are trying to have children together, all what I hear is, the age arguments. They make you feel that you are worthless because of your age. For me I really don’t care, I know that weather I am 20 or 40, and I am meant to be a mom I will be. If not, then this is God well and I will accept it. Joining this forum was very helpful, reading others stories and feel there pain or happiness, cry when they tell a sad story and smile when you hear someone had a BFP, gives you the hope, that no, you are not dead yet, you still have that hope and the chance. Oh , by the way, I lost the weight 5 years ago. I am size 12 now :)

Hi .. over40 : ) I, know your situations and what you went through, girlfriend(39) of mine, had been trying for 14 years and through the years, she had 1 chemical pregnancy, 1 ectopic and 1 miscarrriage of unknown cause(ob/gynae said just bad luck or chromosome disorder from her Dh's side), she is now undergoing the process for IVF(people tell her, it's her only choice cos of her age). She is "stressed out", has mood swings, no appet_tte, and she has put on lots of weight(eating very little and put weight ???) and the hormone injections. To top it all, her skin has gone bad (breakouts and all), now, is it all good for pregnancy and self esteem? In my girlfriend's word .. Try naturally, don't quit, it feels like "hell" for her, kind of scared me. Her friends(none I know) and relatives have been telling her to quit, adoption is the best option now. These people around her, are so messed up, 1st IVF(now that she is in the middle of it) then adoption would be the best option due to her age(again! at the age thing), what's with these people. I've nothing against adoption.... but I think, just not the same for some women, at least for me. Dh of mine, has been putting off the idea of a__sisted help seeing what my girlfriend is going through but I've been doing some research and given it some thoughts too. Just needed to tell you this ... I've got 2 girlfriends( now in their 50's had their 1st pregnancy in their 40's and both have 3 kids, they're so supportive, they too say age is nothing but a number and they did next to nothing when they ttc then, main thing is to relax and let things happen). Nevertheless, Dh & I are seeking help from alternative medicine to get our badies back on track, cos I just can't do next to nothing(just me, needed to take some control), I have faith in God, he'll see us through. I gotten a positive opk last night and this morning my temp has gone up too, Dh & I have been trying every other day since last Saturday, so wish me luck. Will keep you in my prayers and keep you posted. Take care & God bless. : ) : ) : )

I had an HCG shot on day 14 and IUI done day 15. Today is day 20. I did a hpt test this morning and had a faint positive. Could I be pregnant or is it too soon and it is remnants of the HCG shot still in my body?

over40 - April 18

Hi mmelo ..Congrats! I guess all your anxiety/weird feelings are gone now, you've got a positive hpt. Anyway, checked with my girlfriend, she feels the same way and thinks it the hormones too. So excited & happy for you! I wouldn't wonder about those shots .. just be happy, happy cells are good, good for pregnancy : ) : ) : ) Take care & hear from you soon.

mmelo - April 19

Hi ladies, took another hpt today and now it is coming up negative. I think it was the HCG shot still in my system. I have to stop being so neurotic and wait the 2 weeks like the doctor said before I test. Here comes the anxiety again.

over40 - April 19
