43 And Pregnant With My Third Child

I found out right before Christmas that my husband and I are expecting our third child. Was totally unplanned. My husband had a vasectomy that has failed. No there was no one else! I am so freaked out this time because of all the statistics about issues with older women having kids. My other kids are 5 yrs and 3 yrs. I did not worry when I was pregnant with them. I think that one of the reasons I worry is because my hcg level was so high in the beginning and I assume that maybe there may be something wrong with the baby. Sorry to sound like such a downer, I just feel so scared. My husband is so supportive through all of this and is actually excited. Does anyone have any strong words of encouragement?

Congratulations..any pregnancy is a blessing. HAve you had an ultrasound yet? Could you be having twins? What does your doctor say about being pregnant and your age and the hight hcg? Are your further along than you thought? You know your kids of 5 and 3 are still very young..and it is not too long ago that you had your last baby. So..if you have had uncomplicated pregnancies in the past than there is a high chance this one will be the same. I just had my second at 42 (she is 3 months 3 weeks) I thank my luck stars everyday for this opportunity at life..and even a surprise pregnancy can be wonderful depending on your outlook..I think once you realise this pregnancy is here to stay and get over the fact that the vasectomy failed your baby will become a welcome addition to your family. Good luck to you and turn that frown upside down..you are about to become a mother for the third time with the support of your husband. I bet your kids will be very happy too!!

Yes yes congrats on the news. If the HcG is high it could be your are futher along or ya, twins. LOL I know a few vasectomies that have failed! It was meant to be for you. Yes, like Kristin72 said, at least your other ones are not too old, mine are 17, 16, and 13! This will be a whole new start for me! LOL Embrace your little miracle. And let us know if there are two in there!

No there is only one in there! I saw the fetal heartbeat a week ago. So not sure what was going on with my HCG. I go in on the 16th of Feb for NT scan and hopefully everything will be ok. Doc will do a CVS same day if scan looks suspicious! All I pray for at this point is a healthy baby! It will be such a tremendous blessing!!!!!!! Waiting until the 16th seems like an eternity!

Oh my, I could've written this post myself with the exception that I'm not 100% sure that I'm pregnant as I've not taken a pregnancy test yet. I really don't have any desire to know. I'm 41 and have two kids 5 and 3 as well (believe it or not). My husband had his vasectomy last July but didn't follow up to make sure he was "in the clear." So, now I'm a week late..and sooo scared. I'd given away all baby stuff because we were done. We have no room, no space, no money for a number 3. My husband doesn't know yet and I've no desire to tell him. I'm sorry to hijack your thread! I just couldn't believe there was someone else more or less in the same boat. I wish you lots of happy distractions until Feb 16th. I know how hard it is to wait! Deb

Hi I am new at this, but I do have a need to talk to someone, well I am 42 and just found out that I am pregnant (9weeks) I am completely shocked. I have five kids (age 19,17,15,12,9) my youngest son as you might have guessed was not planned but is a true joy in our life. I haven't told anyone yet I am afraid that because of my age the baby might not be healthy. My husband's att_tude this is God's blessing but atleast I got him to agree that if the tests show abnormalities he will support me in whatever decision I make

Please don't be so afraid. A lot of statistics there were done before, less ladies where having children over 35. Many Many do now. Plus, Dowyn syndrome can happen to younger couples too. If you are healthy, no drug issues, drinking etc. You should be just fine!! I am 41 and TTC and I am not worried at all!!
