7500 HCG Nothing Seen In Uterus

Hi. I am 40 years old, have had 4 miscarriages, no successful pregnancies, been to and stopped going to specialists, and am 5 1/2 weeks pregnant again. I went for an ultrasound yesterday and they told me that they could not see anything in the uterus. They performed both an internal and external u/s. They could not see my ovaries or tubes, so they could not confirm if its an ectopic. They said it is very unlikely that the fetus is too small to see at this point, so its either an ectopic or an early molar pregnancy. Since they can't see anything, they can't address either, and I just have to wait now to see if my HCGs tell them what's happening. This completely surprised me because the pg has been going perfectly. My numbers doubled perfectly and I have br___t tenderness. This feels so unfair. My mother has asked me to consider not trying anymore after this, but I am not ready to quit yet. What I really need is some resolution to this. Has anyone had this happen, and how did it turn out? Which awful result is better? Any miracles? I need to focus on the best way to get this resolved, so I can begin to heal.

Update: My actual numbers at that appointment were 5510, and they did not see anything. I went back today (6 days later) and they saw a teeny tiny sac and the yolk. It is smaller than it should be based on how far along I think I am (measures 4w2d), but it is still there and in the right place. :)

Congrats on the pregnancy!! And just because it is small, don't worry. I had two pregnancies that were small all the way through. And my two kids are great. Both where born at 5lbs, but that is what they were. Every baby is different! Good Luck!

Thanks HelloDolly! I really appreciate your support. I got my latest hcg and it only increased from 5510 to 6513 in 5 days. The dr said the number did increase and is in line with the u/s, so we are waiting again. My current decision I need to make is whether I should get another hcg Friday, or just wait the 2 weeks for the u/s. My dr said it is my choice.

Well, if you feel better getting the hcg then do it. but just because it climbs slow doesn't mean a bad thing. if you think it will cause you stress seeing the number, then be happy your not bleeding and wait for the u/s. just remember, the baby feels the stress and the body can perceive it as a bad time for baby. you don't want to stress this kid right out of you!! so long as you are not bleeding, it is a great thing and you are progressing!! keep me updated!! I am praying for a miracle for us soon!! this is only our first month trying, but I am so excited!!
