7 Weeks Pregnant And No Yolk Sac

This is my first child and I have conceived with great difficulty through IVF. I was having severe cramps and abdominal pains. The Gyn called me for an u/s and said there was no yolk sac and this can affect the health of the child. I don't know what does this mean? I am so nervous; has this happened to anyone? Is there a chance that yolk sac is hidden?

Shona, congratulations on conceiving. I'm sorry I don't have the answer but just wanted to say my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Is it possible that you're off on the dating and it's too soon? Maybe it will show up in the next couple of weeks. Or do you have a tipped uterus? I have heard that a tipped uterus sometimes makes it a little difficult for things to be seen in an ultrasound. How's the baby otherwise? Did you see a strong heartbeat and are measurements at 7 weeks? Don't lose hope. A lot of us cramp but possibly it's a little more intense for you b/c of IVF.
