Hi. I am 40 and am considering acupuncture for my secondary infertility. I have a 24 year old dd and a 4 year old dd. I have been trying for number 3 for 3 years now. I ovulate regularly but because of my age I am guessing that most of my eggs are not of good quality so I am wondering if acupuncture will help nourish the eggs to provide better quality. Anyone with success stories???

Hi Deborah, I have had 3 consecutive m/c's. After all the testing, the doctors could not find anything wrong and said it was "bad luck". They also sent me to acupuncture. It is supposed to raise healthy eggs to the surface for conception. I went for 6 weeks of acupuncture and last March gave birth to a healthy little girl. Good luck!!!

P.S. I forgot to add I just turned 35 this year. I had my m/c's in 2005 and 2006.

Hi Kristine. Thanks for responding and a big CONGRATS to you on your little girl!!! I was wondering, you said you went for acupuncture for 6 weeks, how often a week, once twice? How long were each sessions? Did you go to appointments according to your cycle, like during ovulation, implantation?? Did you have many needles in you or just a few around your lower stomach? Sorry for all the questions but the anawers would really help me out..Thanks Kristine

No problem! I went once a week at $50 a session. I went before, during and after ovulation. The needles were around my ears, lower stomach area, wrists and legs. THEY DID NOT HURT AT ALL. He also put a warmer over my belly as well during ovulation time. The sessions lasted between 30-40 minutes (make sure to use the restroom first!) I lay flat on a table, like at your doctor's office, and the acupuncurist would put on soothing music. My advice is to find a practicioner who has been in the business for awhile and truly believes in the practice, not some "wannabee" . Mine came from China and has been practicing since 1967!

Hi Kristine. Thanks for getting back to me. I have gone 3 times so far including today for Acupuncture. I ovulated yesterday. Yes my gal is Chinese too and has been doing it for 20 plus years. She only has me lie there with the needles for 20 minutes. I wonder if this is long enough?? She puts them in my lower belly, one over each ovary and one in the middle. One in each foot on top and one in each lower leg. She asks me alot of questions regarding my infertility and gives alot of advice. It seems she really knows what she's doing. Again thank you Kristine for sharing...

That is terrific, you have a great practicioner. I'm sure the length of time varies from person to person.-------------When will you test?

That's too bad Deborah. It may take a few treatment sessions. Keep going to acupuncture if you can. I really believe in it's success!
