Anyone Have Factor V Leiden

Just wondering if I am alone out here. I have 2 healthy boys, and I am the mom to a baby girl, who was stillborn at 39 weeks. We think it was due to the clotting disorder. I did use fragmin for my 3rd pregnancy, and Nathan was born early, but alive and is now very healthy. (after removing all chemicals from our home) I just turned 35, so decided not to do the amnio, as there is a 1 in 200 risk of miscarriage, and that is too high for me. Hope all goes well for everyone. Look forward to hearing from you.

I am so sorry for your loss...i just cant imagine how painful it must of been. Im hapy to hear that your boy is doing great...and I too will not have an amnio due to the m/c risk...even tho at my age, 42, they say the downs risk is higher...it still doesnt make sense to risk it. Good luck with your prgnancy!

Thank-you. It was very hard. (the hardest thing we have ever done) But it is over, and life goes on. I think the only time, anyone should actually consider doing any of those screening tests is if they feel ok about abortion. Why else would you do it? Better to think for 9months that everything is good, rather than know right off, and worry, and build things up in your head. You are an amazing woman having a baby at 42. I wasn't sure about 35. I hope all goes well for you as well. When are you due?

JulieMomof 4 I had an amnio done and I am not for abortion at all . The reason I had it done is so that if there was something wrong with my baby I would be better prepared for it and if all was well , which it is , I would more relaxed through my pregnancy and not be worried that something is wrong with my baby . So at the end of the day a decision to have an amnio is a very personal decision and is not as cut and dry as you have put it across .

thx Julie...Im not sure if im brave doing this at 42 or just plain out of my mind. LOL. Tylersmommy, I do think that alot of people have the amnio to be better prepared. If my level 2 u/s comes back suspicious, I guess I would have to consider it...Im not sure yet. I dont think Julie was trying to judge...just saying that she could not personally use it to end the pg, so it wasnt worth the risk of m/c'ing to her. Im somewhere in between. Good luck, Im glad your baby is HEALTY.

Hi Julie, I am sorry about the loss of you baby girl and congrats on the 2 healthy boys you have. I suggest that you join a Yahoo! Group for Factor V Leiden FVL. You will be amazed about how many of us have that clotting disorder and the ladies in the group are very well informed and very helpful. Good luck! BM

Tylersmommy- Oh my Gosh no, not trying to judge. It is a very personal decision. It was my personal decision that the risks were too high, and even though I would prefer a healthy child, I feel as though I would have to accept any child that came into my life. (not that I am suggesting any other decision is wrong) I guess having 3 prior pregananies that held their own surprises. 1st toxemia, 2nd stillbirth, 3rd, baby born at 35wks, b/c a series of ultrasounds were unfavorable, and showed that he had stopped growing. I realize that there is not much I can do to prepare myself for anything that may come. Life is too uncertain. I do know for certain though that an amnio hold a 1 in 200 chance in miscarriage, and that scared me, esp. since I knew I was not prepared to act on anything. Kinda make sense? BM Thanks for the tip on the Factor V Leiden Group. I will check it out. Suze42, wondering what made you decide to have another baby now, or is this your 1st. Not to be too personal, just curious, and often wonder what compells women to have babies later in life. (Kinda like I am doing)LOL
