Anyone Over 40 TTC

Hi Dina, I am 40 and ttc. I just 2 weeks ago had SX to remove my right tube after my pregnancy turned out to be ectopic. The drug (methotrexate) did not work in desolving the cells and even with close monitoring and initial good looking HCG levels the damage to my tube was too much to save it. So after 1 year ttc having to go through the whole thing was just awful. But, I am determined to make it work. I am pretty sure we will move on to IVF to beat the odds. B

I don't think the problem is low egg count but that the eggs are older and harder for the sperm to fertilize. When they do fertilize, there are more chances for something to go wrong....Renee

I am 41 and would have been 11 weeks today. Except I miscarried yesterday. My heart is breaking as this is the second miscarriage at this stage in the past 6 months. I guess I will soon be back to TTC.

I just turned 45 on Dec. 5th. I havd had two mc's. the last one less than a week ago. My husband and I have a 13 and 11 year old, and I had been sick with Lyme for the last 10 1/2 years. As of the last yeqr or so, I've been well, and we decided to try and concieve. We got easily pregnant for every pregnancy. I am suprised that I mc'd. I see the doctor next week post D & E. I am anxious to hear what he has to say. Even the pregnancy has gone twice now, the longing for another child has not. Thank you for the support.

Maidencanada and Kimmie, I am so sorry to hear about your m/c. I too had one in May and still trying. We have been ttc 7 mo since the m/c and Dr. is just now starting tests. Dh sperm count and motility came back good yesterday, and I have some tests today. Ladies, take very good care of yourselves.

Boy, how horrible. I am so sorry to hear about your guys miscarriage. My ectopic has now been three weeks ago. SO, I can relate.....That is the one thing I am really worried about, if I get pregnant to have another ectopic or m/c. I will keep you guys in my thoughts as we ttc once again.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I will not give up hope but to be honest, I am terrified it will happen a third time. I have now been pregnant for a total of almost 6 months and am again starting over. Can you imagine going through the first trimester three times in a row with nothing to show for it? Oh well, there must be a reason we are going through this. I try to look on the bright side in all things but is there really a bright side to this? I can't seem to find one yet.

Maidencanada, the hope and faith in what you are trying to accomplish will pay off in a big way some day soon when you are holding that newborn in your arms. My tests yesterday showed that I have antibodies against my dh sperm. The post-coital test showed all of his sperm in me dead. My dr. turned around and did a IUI this morning. Keep us in your prayers that this will take.
