I was wondering what the rules are for baby showers. Frankly, we don't have a lot of friends, we're just not social butterflies. We have some family in the area and only a couple friends. I would love a baby shower, but don't think anyone we know would initiate one. Is it completely tacky to hold your own shower??

I'm kind of having the same problem. One of my aunts wants to give me a shower one month before my due date (early Nov.), and we will do that shower for relatives. My hubby is trying to organize another shower that we will have at our house, and it will be with my friends. I have a lot of friends out of state, and a couple said they would probably come for a shower. See about your hubby / significant other getting something together. Or bring the subject up to one of your friends, and offer to help with everything. There's nothing wroing with wanting the shower that you want, but I also feel funny about doing it myself - hubby can do it.
