hi Sandra - I am 41, 14 weeks pg. I am also bp. I had my daughter at 37yo and went off my meds 6 months before ttc - very, very difficult pg - lots of depression throughout - no meds whatsoever.
Last year I ttc and it ended in mc - i was on clexa and ativan and trileptal - went off trileptal (mood sabilizer) but only a month or so before I became pg. Stayed on the other meds and m/c.
This time (Dec 2005) i stayed on celexa - I initially went off in beg of pg, but I could not handle (nor could my family) the terrible mood swings w/hormone problems.
I don't know anything about hbp, but check with you pdoc about safe meds (at the least an anti dep) I take a very small dose, 10mg per day, but it helps. The problem with anti dep is withdrawal for the baby after it is born, so the pdoc might have you taper off before your final months...i hope the best for you

tfog, thank you so very much for answering. I was starting to wonder if I was the ONLY bp woman out there ttc! Anywho, I'm on Zoloft, Ability and Lamictal; my psych has already lowered one of them and is pretty certain she can keep me on the others throughout my future pregnancy. Tell me again, how many mc's have you had, and do you attribute them to the meds? the age? what would you say? I'm happy to hear you're pregnant now and wish you the best of the best this time. I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, SM

Hi Sandra. I have had only one mc that I know of. The ob dr said no that it was an age/embryo issue probably. I did have severe headaches and really weird skin condition on my face....I DO think the ativan didn't help and the amount of tylenol early on may not have helped. I had been trying for 3 years AFTER the removal of an IUD...so any # of things or all combined could have been a factor. I used to take lamictal, and was told it is NOT safe during pg as it is an anti-epileptic med...but that was years ago. I am familiar w/zoloft not abilify though...keep up your spirits and good luck you can email me anytime at tfogarty1@adelphia.net
