I am a first time pregnant woman at age 42. My HCG levels are as follows:
12 dpo=33
24 dpo=854
26 dpo=1190
The doubling time between the first and second test was 61 hours. The doubling time between the second and third is 100 hours. Is this unusual? I haven't bled at all and I do have rather sore br___ts. Please set me straight.

Hello, From what I have heard, HCG levels can vary from one person. don't get too concerned with the levels. How far along are you. It seems you are 26 dpo? Have they seen the heartbeat? If not you should be able to see something in week 5 or 6. It looks like it doubled b/t days 24 and 26, that is good. http://www.conceivingconcepts.com/learning/articles/hcg.html Take out any dashes if they appear after posting my response.

I am also a first timer at age 36. Fifteen weeks along. My hcg levels were very high and my dr did a sonogram, It turned out to be just one baby. Dr says high hcg levels are a sign of a healthy pregnancy. But the chance of having twins does hieghten after the age of 35. Good luck to you!

Melissa, higher than normal hcg levels aren't always a sign of a healthy pregnancy. They can sometimes also be a marker of certain chromosomal problems. The triple (blood serum) test will look for elevated hcg levels, as one way of determining a person's risk. Did your doctor mention the triple screen at all? It's a useful screening procedure along with u/s. However, levels can vary so widely and still be considered normal, so that's good news. Best wishes..!
