Conection Between Age And Low Progesterone

Has anyone heard of anything relating to age and having low progesterone at the start of a preganancy? I was 29 with my first, 31 with my second, 33 with my third (and at 6 weeks my progesterone was >8, went on suppliments=fine), at 34 m/c at 10 weeks, at 35 m/c at 9 weeks... with both m/c we saw at heart beat at 6 wks, and both times around 9 weeks I was put on progesterone, but it was too late. I'm wondering if the m/c's and low progesterone have to do with age (my first 2 kids they didn't test my progesterone). Thanks-

I have done some research on this as I had a m/c at around 7wks I was 34yrs old and I was told it was due to low progesterone but I was able to get pregnant again about 3 months later (this was my 3rd child, I have two healthy older sons w/no problems) and this time I used natural progesterone cream and I now have a healthy 3 1/2 week old baby boy!! I would if I were you try that using the natual progesterone cream I used it all the up thru my 3rd trimester and had a very easy pregnancy...good luck... I did read alot about how age has a lot to do with progesterone..

progesterone cream, the natural one appears to have no harmful side effects, the only thing that has been noticed is that babies who's mothers used it tend to be smarter than average. It is hard to test for progesteone levels as they vary in the blood from time of day, could get different readings am or pm. It wont prevent m/c if it is going to happen, and around six weeks is a vital time for the embryo development, my last 3 m/c's happened at 10-11 weeks but the embryos had all stopped growing at around six, so later m/c are often just delayed.... had a great 8 week scan but the worry is always there after having had m/c's. Also a miscarriage may sometimes be caused by low progesterone, but often the low progesterone is low because the pregnancy has already failed, it is more often failed pregnancy causing low prog than low prog causing pregnancy to fail.... i would use the cream anyway if i was at all worried. Only on half dose every second day this time but really dont think that prog was the problem with my m/c, just old eggs...

WOW to the last response. Yes, age and progesterone go hand in hand and it is best to start using progesterone supplements as soon as you ovulate. As progesterone is made by the corpus lutem, which prepares our uterine lining w/richness for optimal implantation. I have done my homework and I work very closely with ultrasound depts., ob/gyns, RE specialists and genetic counselors.
