I am considering going the old cloth diaper route for my baby due in July, by way of a diaper service. Do any moms out there have any opinions on the ease of this one way or the other, versus disposables?

sorry...i am a disposable diaper mom all the way. My son pooped more then anything known to man and I would have hated to cart all those poopie diapers around!

Good for you, Georgia! I don't begrudge anyone for opting for convenience but I'm with you in the cloth camp. I have no diaper service in the small town where I live so I'll be washing them all myself. I babysat for my sister's kids when I was just 8 years old and I did fine with the cloth then so I figure it should be no problem now. There's a website you should see - www.cottonbabies.com
It answers lots of questions about cloth diapers as well as having great products. Toting poopy diapers isn't that big of a deal if you have the right diaper bag with waterproof compartment. Women did it for years, after all.

We're doing the cloth route. I found a lot of good deals on ebay. If you can sew there are also several sites that have patterns on them for diaper covers, etc. (http://www.geocities.com/sweetand viciousny/diapercover.html?20064, http://www.geocities.com/rew4birth/Fitted_Pattern_Instructions_page3.html?20064) I haven't found a diaper service in town so at the moment we're planning on washing them ourselves.
