I was wondering if anyone knew if there was greater risk of chromosomal (DS) defects if you have your children close together timewise.

I have a friend who has a baby less than 1 year old and a 10 year old. She found out she was pregnant with twins and at her 4th month appointment the doctors told her that one of the twins were downs syndrome and the other had spinobifida. I'm not sure why-but many would say that the birth spacing (she got pregnant when her baby was only about three months old) may have something to do with it.

I never knew this was even an issue. Have you asked your doctor about this?
