Does anyone know if it is ok to check my uterus and tubes via ultrasound when i may be pregnant? I was ovulating at the end of last week and my ultrasound appt. is in a couple days. I think it is even too early to take a blood test to see if i'm prego? I don't want to take any chances.....you girls know what is like wanting to get prego...especially after age 35.

it is ok to get an U/S regardless of timing. There are other tests to check your tubes and they are not ok to get...such as a hysterosalpinogram.

I think my appt. is for the hysterosalpinogram to check for any polyps or blockage in my tubes. This is obviously not a good idea if i am possibly pregnant. Do you know if they are able to check for problems with a reguler ultrasound? Maybe i should reschedule my appt. or keep it and have them give me a Preg. test. Does anyone know if it is too early to take a test? I think it's been 6-7 days since conception? I'm staying positive without trying to obsess about it. Thanks for any info you have.

An HSG should be done between cycle day 5-9. (I am an xray tech and have done hundreds..also had 2 myself)
Any later then that and it is strongly not advised. An HSG is wheer ther use xray and xray dye, inject it into the uterus and watch it spill out of the tubes. That way you can see blockages etc. You can also see uterine polyps and other abnormalities. The U/S can check ovaries and uterus but not tubes (unless there is an ectopic) but will not define the tubes as well as an HSG. So if your appt is for u?s...go for it. If for an HSG it should be scheduled just after you stop bleeding and before possible ovulation...and NO s_x before...just in case. Also...you have an icreased chance of getting pregnant after and HSG...possible reasons are debris washed out and they are more "open". Good luck!

Thanks! That is good information for me. I had my daughter 10 years ago and got pregnant first try. I had no problems. I didn't have to think about all the tests they do if you are older and are trying to have a baby. It is all so new and intimidating. I'm keeping everything crossed. (except fallopian tubes). Thanks for the info and support.
