Hi ladies,
I am 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and just yesterday went to have my second HCG done. The values were not as high as they should be. (first one was 980 on Monday and yesterday it was 2200) That coupled with my advanced age(40) and slight spotting an Thursday have me pretty freaked out. We have been TTC for 12 month and now I am very concerned. Monday I will go back for another HCG. I guess that will be give us real answers if something is really wrong or if I just raise my values a bit slower than average. I could use some positive input.

well I just mainly wanted to say good luck to you I hope it turns out well....I think we are given too many tests and spend too much time stressing out over this result or that result when only God knows what is gonna happen if this baby is meant to be then he/she will be fine if he/she is meant to be an angel that will happen as well please just try not to get to upset...i had a mc at the begining of this year I was around 7wks and I am not sure why...i have two healthy kids and never had a mc so I was stunned.....but now I am 31wks with a healthy pregnancy so you just never know trust your body if something is not quite right you body knows and will take care of it good luck

Hi Britta, in a perfect wold you will double every 48 hours. However, my Doctor said that as long as it is 60% plus, the HCG is just fine. My HCG did not double but I was about 70% and the doctor told me everythingis well. I even got to see the heartbeat at 6w5d. so dont worry, I think your numbers are still in the normal range. I know there is a website that converts it for you but for the life of me I can't remember the address.
P.S. I am 41 if you are advanced I am advanced plus a year lol.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am trying to be positive....Monday will be hell on earth waiting for the results. The bottom line is though that there really is not anything I can do at this point other than wait and hope.....SO that's what I shall do. Thanks for the support.

As long as your numbers are doubling every 2 days don't worry. Spotting is normal in the first trimester. If it lasts longer than 2 days and is red not brown, then call up doc and demand an ultrasound. I hope this helps.

Well,
after having a gut feeling that something was not right I went to the emergency room and had to find out that I have an ectopic pregnancy in my right tube. I can't describe how horrible that felt. Now I have to go in tomorrow and make a decision on which route to take to terminate the pregnancy.

Britta - i just read your post and wanted to say that i am sorry for your sad news. i wish you all the best and hope that you are able to conceive again soon when you feel ready for it.
