I would really appreciate any responses I can get regarding this question. I am 37, will be 38 in july. I have a 17, 15, and soon to be 11 yr.old. Hubby and I have decided to go for #4. We have had unprtected s_x since last july but have only begun seriously timing our encounters since last month. I am really nervous that I will not get pregnant. I have not had any kind of fertility testing or anything like that. My doctor did tell me a few weeks ago that I am obviously able to procreate since I have 3 already and that I should not worry because it will happen when it happens. However, I still feel scared it won't happen......like maybe I am too old....because of all the medical statistics I have read about conceiving after the age of 35, (it being more difficult and all.) In fact just this morning there was a segmaent on the our local news channel that said the chances of conceiving without fertility treatments or IVF after the age of 35 are very slim. I try to make myself feel better by keeping in mind that most of those statistic are talking about first time pregnancies after the age of 35. It also freaks me out a bit that some people have told me that they can't believe I would even want more children since my oldest is 17. I just want to hear from other women who have been in my shoes (37 or older, already have older children, and conceived naturally.) It would make me feel so much better to know that my eggs are not all dried up and that I can get pregnant naturally. I guess I shouldn't listen to the medical statistics because I know that God is greater than science and he did equip women with eggs that last until menopause, therefore he must have intended for women to be able to have babies until that time comes. BUT......I still feel nervous and need a bit of support from others who have been there and done that. Thanks so much for any response I can get!

Hi catsgirl!! I am 38 and trying for my fourth also! I have an 18 yr old, a 4 yr old and a 2 and a half yr old, so I was older than 35 with last pregnancy and conceived the first month off b/c. But, I just recently remarried and now my DH is older than me, and its seems that things just dont happen naturally for me anymore....so frustrating, I know....we have only been timing things during ovulation for the past 4 cycles and I figured I would be pg by now, but its not the case, and like you, I am wondering if my chance has past....But, my faith is in God and what is impossible with me is possible with Him and He knows the desire of my heart....maybe we can go thru a bit of this together? I can surely relate to what you are going thru....

Thanks for your response jeanette. I would love to go through this together. This is the second cycle we have been timing. I am in my fertile time right now so I am praying for success. Although I have to say that since july we have been having unprotected s_x without really timing it, I am sure we were in the target zone at least once or twice, (I used an ovulation prediction test once.) It is just so funny.......with our first three we didn't TRY to get pregnant, but we didn't TRY to prevent it either! So I guess it seemed easy to get pregnant.....LOL! We always wanted more but decided to wait until we were financially secure. Now that we are and we are actually trying, I find it to be torture waiting to see if AF shows up. I also find myself doing a body check constantly, like a week before AF shows up......meaning I wonder if my headache, or cramp or sore b___sts are because I might be. Then I am bummed out when I find I am NOT!....LOL. I guess when you're ready and actually trying patience goes right out the window. So much harder than when it just happens and you werent really trying. All I know is this...trying at this age and hearing all the statistics makes me doubtful and afraid. So I relish hearing from anyone else who has had the same fears and was successful. Again, I would love to go through this with you. We could support each other through conception. That would be fun!

Hey cat....I have an idea. Since this forum seems to be for women already pregnant...come over to the other thread I am on. I've been there for 5 months now and we have a wonderful group of ladies trying to conceive. Wouldl that be ok?? I have asked questions on this forum and been kinda gettin snubbed, I think becuase its just for ladies already pregnant....I dont blame them though...after you are pg, you kinda want to talk to ladies that are too, instead of ladies who are still trying......So, go to Q&A at the top of this page on the left next to the t_tle of this thread and click on it. Scroll down to "signs of pregnancy" and click. Then find the "2006 LAMBS" thread....and join in with us. They are all trying to conceive on that forum and we have had a coupla girls get their bfp's this month...so we can ask them questions too! See ya there!

Hi catsgirl, IMHO the odds are still very good for us, expecially if you have had children already. The older generations had children well into 40s, and it was OK. I conceived my first at 38 (dh was 56), conceived my second at 40. Both times from the first attempt!

I'm only 32 but know so many women who have got pregnant at your age and older. My friend is 40 and had twins at 7lb 6 and 7lb 8. I think its natural to be anxious. At least you know you can get pregnant I'd be more worried about concieving twins as there is a greater chance if you are over 35. Good luck and baby dust to all.....

WOW...in the woods....your story gave me alot of hope for me & dh. thank you!...and buffy, LOL! there a bigger chance even for me cause my mom, grandma and great grandma all gave birth to twins!
