I had unprotected s_x with my hubby of 20 years, no children. We tried to have a child a long time ago and then gave up. Could I possibly be pregnant at 54? Scared and worried. Debra

You go through menopause when you are running out (or have run out) of eggs. I think it is a pretty good bet that you will not become pregnant. At 44 yes, but at 54, not very likely. To put it in perspective, I am 41 and at my age I have a 5% chance each month of concieving IF I have unprotected s_x at the right time. You will have probably less than a 1% chance so relax and don't worry. :)

I appreciate the statistics Maidencanada. I love the idea that I have only a 1% chance. However, with my luck, that may be just the percentage I need!!! My husband and I conceived when we had only known each other three months. It was too early in the relationship to marry. I chose to have an abortion at that time, thinking I had all the time in the world to have a baby (at 34). Then I started going to school full time and working at the same time full time, so I put off trying during those years. I am having symptoms like sore nipples, so very tired all the time and being very ga__sy. I've made an appointment to have a blood pregnancy test next week.... Better to be safe than sorry. If I am pregnant (at 54!!!!) then I certainly could not have an abortion.... This will be my last chance, and so it messes up my retirement a little bit. Maybe it will add a lot to it too.
