Happy B-day Mel (yesterday) and Me :) (today!). Since I dont have my NT until May 22nd, and I have been feeling paranoid - my belly seems less swollen, hardly any nausea, and dont feel anything swimming around, I made an appt with the OB today to hear the heartbeat - G-d willing!! I'll let y'all know how it goes. It looks like we will be getting a lot of info from others today. I live overseas so if you are in the states or Canada I am between 7 and 10 hours ahead of you, depending on which zone you live in. This means my appt today will be before most of you get up this morning! But may go out straight for my b-day after that, so wont be home until later to report. Ok, too many details. Have a good one!

NT SCAN RESULT: Well, the first part is done....the NT measurment was 1.3, which I've been told is "excellent." At 43, any bit of good news is more than welcomed...so, I'm totally happy today. My OBGYN also noticed the "nose"..which, if seen early, is an excellent marker that the baby does NOT have downs. Studies in the U.K and France are big on using this marker. Hope everyone else is hanging in there. I just now have to wait for the bloods and other genetic blood tests to come back next week....but I'm starting to feel pretty good and we're starting to think about maybe telling family and friends, soon. OH, and even though I"m only 11.5 weeks, the baby measured 12.5 weeks! Kind of helps me think that I'm even CLOSER to making it out of first trimemester. xxx

Well I am back! Peanut was agin not as cooperative as we had hoped but the U/S tech persisted and finally got HIM to cooperate. It appears that he has a "very generous portion" down yonder and even tho it is too early to definatively say it is looking really good for the XY team. My odds went from 1:127 (before NTT) to 1:2000+. The paper stated my odds are similar to a 21 year old to have a Down Baby and 1:4000+ of trisomy 18 and 13. Great odds so I had them cancel the CVS. I will go to the Dr. again in 2 weeks to discuss whether an amnio is even neccesary. I am very relieved. It also seems to have given me the ability to be happy about this pregnancy. Come to think about it, I dont remember being overly excited when I was pregnant with my son (who I had to do infertility in order to become pregnant) until I heard the HB on doppler and even then it took him kicking the doppler for me to go "now that is MY kid". I so love when my babies are little turds!!! LOL (just like their mama) ANNISHEL...happy bday! Daffy, I'll be watching for your report n the amnio...Kristen...still waiting to see your report. Happy...measurement sound fantastic! I'll be looking for the update too. Bye girls!

Hey. Got back from the doctor, and my b-day dinner. Feeling much better now - doc has a small u/s machine in his office, since hb is hard to find this young and he measured and all and size is right, etc (11 weeks). happy, christa, and kristen - So glad to hear you are all succeeding in you NT's. Will have to wait for mine another 11 days. Are yours covered by your insurance or do you have to pay extra since it is not a 'standard' test? Speak to you later :)

My turn: nuchal fold was 1.2 mm (within normal range); measured 62 mm in length, heartrate 169 bpm. Other organs were checked out, measured and photographed too but the tech said she saw nothing abnormal. I have no idea what the blood flow check meant but we got to see that in color/red too. It was very exciting to see my kid wiggling all over the place; we saw and got to take home pictures of him/her from front, back and side because he/she seemed to be rolling/floating up and down along a bump that looked like a little hill on my uterus (tech said it was a contraction of my uterus). Anyway, we've got an energetic, playful little one! Arms were moving a bit too as if to say hello to us. Very sweet! Dr pronounced everything "great so far". While I do feel relieved, the "so far" part is hanging over my head until I get my blood test results. The genetic counselor will be calling me next Tuesday to discuss my results. I'm praying for all of us who are still waiting for those results.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AANISHEL!!! (It's still your birthday in my part of the world : ) Congratulations on hearing your little one's heartbeat! About insurance, I forgot to double check but I'm pretty certain that for those of us 35 and older, in California anyway, the First Trimester Screening (nuchal scan) is a covered benefit. Is yours covered? DAFFY: Today, I also heard that I still have time to do CVS even though I'm 12w1d as of today but I only have about a week or so to do it if necessary. HAPPYGAL: Congratulations on great scan results!! Now were in the wait for blood results phase together. They looked at my little one's nose too but they told me it was not one of the markers they use to calculate my odds--still they looked at it. Looked like daddy's Roman nose to me. CHRISTA: Congratulations to you too!! I'm so glad for you that today's appointment and results were just what you needed to put your mind at ease and make you happier about your pregnancy. Yippee a brother for your little boy, how excited he'll be!! KRISTIN: Congrats to you also!! I remembered your words of wisdom (from another thread) and information to ask for during this appointment so I remembered to get all the right info. Thanks so much. I'm so glad things are looking good for you too! Hope you don't have to work this weekend or next week so you can just rest and shake off your virus. Feel better soon. *** I hope everyone else is feeling great!!

Anyone opposed to starting a new thread again? This one is getting too long...

christa0120 - May 12

Perl...sounds like you had a great scan...somehow I missed your posts earlier...(this thread really is getting too long...LOL) Annishel...I am presuming mine is covered by insurance. I guess I will find out. I actually have a Case Manager from my insurance company checking in on me every 2 weeks because of the high risk business. I am still confused as to why but I am ok with it. She calls me after every appointment to make sure everything went well. I told her about my NT results and she seems genuinely happy and didn;t mention that it wasn;t covered. She also offered me other things like info on cla__ses and WIC and other programs if I need them. IShe says her job is to make sure that I have everything I need. Guess I'll have to take her at her word, but she has been very helpful as far as getting all my FMLA and disability paper work in order for when the time comes. Have a great day all. Oh and where is an update from Mel?

MellyMel - May 12

PERL, CHRISTA, and KRISTEN-I'm so happy that you all got good results on your NT Scan!! YAYYY!!! That is just terrific!!! MDBOLDUC-Welcome to the November Mommies board!! DAFFY~Yes, my m/s has died down a bit, but when it comes, boom it comes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNISHEL!!!(BELATED) HAPPYGAL~so happy for you also that you got good results too!! CHRISTA~It's a boy!! Is this your second boy? I thought we both had boys already, but wasn't sure. I am still hoping for that little girl, but will be happy with another boy. I don't have any news yet girls. I do not go for my NT Scan until May 18th, but will keep you updated right after. My sickness has been getting better, b___bs still killing me and my belly has a tiny pouch that it's had for a few weeks now. I just can't get over how soon my belly has puffed since my last pregnancy with my son 7 years ago. I hope you all have a good day and Happy Mother's Day to all of you mommies and soon to be mommies!!! XOXO

MellyMel - May 12

So do you think they will see the s_x at the NT Scan? I mean, am I too early? On that day, I should be 11w/4d? Thanks!!

Kristin72 - May 12

Mel..I just have to tell you I thought your comment on the 45 year old abortion lady was great..I felt so bad after voicing my opinion.. and was told off by her and another one..but I truly think if you want support about abortion.. GO to an abortion support group..I am pregnant and for me it's hard to hear about abortion for a 45 year old women. Happy Mother's Day to everyone here..and for the soon-to-be Mother's Day Mommies..we can celebrate too!! XO Kristin

Kristin72 - May 12

P.S. I think it may be too early to detect the s_x via ultrasound at 11/4..but you never know ;)
