Louisa- Evertime I try to contact you, little one, (the cat napper) wakes up. Boy, the things you forget. I am so tired that if I sit too long I literally nod off. I have to go to my nephews 1st birthday party today. I forgot how much you need to pack up for the day. I think I need a larger diaper bag.
So how are you feeling? How many weeks ar you now? Do you have names chosen? I know this sounds a little strange, but I miss being pregnant. All of the preparation and build-up. Maybe it is because I know Luca is my last.......He is just so darn adorable. My hospital posts the baby's pictures on their website. You can see my sweet one at www.virtua.org. Choose Virtua Nursery from the QuickLinks. Pa__sword is 366568ZAN. Talk to you soon. Keep me up on your pregnancy. I think that I will still stay on this forum, the infant one is a little boring.

Hey Tammy Great to hear from you!!! Your right.. you boy is just so adorable. He is a handsome little man!!! It is tough knowing that this will be your last. I'm in the same boat, it's so amazing to feel a little person growing inside of you. Falling in love each day is a wonderful experience. The pain is still there from the gallstones.. wow, I hope this is training me for labor.. it's so painful. Tammy it's hurts to eat everything but toast and tea biscuits at the moment. At my last doctors appointment my total weight loss was 3 pounds. Monday will be week number 25 for me. So far no weight gain at all, my doctor made a comment that I will be getting bigger next month. My partner has also made comments about my weight. I wish I could make him understand how much it hurts to eat. There are good and bad days, it's just hard to figure out how my body will respond each day. I feel so guilty that this little boy isn't getting enough nutrition. Just to compensate I take and extra vitamin, plus I try to drink lots of 1% milk. Time is slipping away from me.. have to pick up my son from his friends. I will try to update you further tomorrow. Take care for now!

Louisa- You have been through so much. Please don't worry, you're baby is getting the nutrition it needs. You are the one who isn't. I am sure that you are doing everything possible. Just take it slow. I swear, Luca know when I have a few minutes. He awake, again. Have to get back to you------.

My daughter was born when I was 38. As she was my first birth, my midwife thought it better to have her at hospital, which was a 3/4 of an hour's drive away! Terrible trip to do while in labour - very winding road, but not much traffic! I arrived at hospital at 4.30 - baby born at 5.45! - hospital not equipped for epidurals or anything like that - those require to go to bigger hospital by ambulance - another 3/4 of an hour away!! So I only had a shot of Pethidine - probably far too late in proceedings anyway!! - and sucked the gas! All went well. So now I'm 12.3/40 at the age of 43. I live in a different location - still a 20-30 minute drive to nearest hospital. Midwife already talking about home birth - yippee! - we'll go for it!

Alison, Wow a home birth! Wish I could say I was brave enough to try that. It would be great to be in comfortable surroundings. With you daughter is sounds like you arrived there just in time. Was it a short labour? With the complications this time the hospital would be my only route. Not that I'm complaining, I met some of the nurses that will be taking care of me when I give birth. There all such caring individuals.

Hi Louisa! I guess my labour was fairly short - 6-1/2 hours total, but really only a couple of hours of actual pain - however, there didn't seem to be separate contractions, I seemed to be in continual pain!! When I first arrived at the hospital, my midwife was convinced I wouldn't deliver for quite a while, so David went out around the shops! When I felt like I needed to push, I didn't want to, as David wasn't there - or my sister, who was driving a 3-4-hr trip!! David did arrive in time to see the birth - JUST! My sister arrived 20 minutes too late, in time to see her first feed - and she bathed Heidi while I had a shower. I'm only considering a home birth, because this same "big sis" would like to be there again and she will particularly look after Heidi and we'll play it completely by ear as to whether Heidi is there for the birth or not. It's really good to hear that you already have met the nurses that will be looking after you and that they're a caring lot - I don't think I would be able to do that at the hospital I (might) have to go to, which is the other reason we'd prefer a home birth. I had Heidi at the hospital I worked at - I had my own midwife, whom I had already built up a friendship with, as well as being a colleague, and the other midwife that was on duty that evening, whom I also knew to work with. They were both around the 55-60 years of age mark, with the combined experience of many, many years. Both had delivered babies in third-world countries. So I had 100% confidence in their abilities! While I was on my own, it was really good, as Mary was doing everything David should've been there to do, like rub my back, give me squirts of water, wipe my brow etc etc!! I pray you will have a very easy, uncomplicated delivery and that you and your baby will keep in the best of health!

louisa,as you may have read one of my posts,I have had both,a natural birth was the 1st,and by far the most difficult.I never thought the pain could get worse, and it did,the pain killers were either not working,or made me feel sick.It was a living nightmare.I remember thinking I would never forget this pain.In contrast I promised never to get pregnant again unless I had a section. It was agreed. The contrast was so different.Everything was more relaxed,I felt my husband and me were experiening things together at an even keel, not me in pain. After the operation,it was less painful than labour, and the pain was manageable. Also the nurses could see the scar, like me.It healed up perfectly, and now you would not know its there.I felt so sore after the natural birth, and obviously in a tricky place.I know you want a natural birth, great, but just to let you know, from my point of view if you do have to have an operation, for me I prefered it,and it was'nt that bad.

I am 40 and had a natural childbirth...the labour was 2 hours in total. My baby is 9 months old. I am unsure why so many women would be having ceasar's over this age?
