Pap Smear And First Prenatal

Hello ladies, quick question, did anyone of you had a Pap smear in her first prenatal check up? Mine is Wednesday, and it include this test, I am not sure if I like it.. Thanks for your feed back.

Hi there COL. Can't say for sure but I think I did. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about or they wouldn't do it but perhaps you might feel happier if you talk it through with the doctor first. Just googled it and found this on www.americanpregnancy.org/womenshealth/papsmear.html "A Pap smear is a routine part of your pre-natal care and poses no risk to the fetus." Hope this helps. Yes, I had with my former pregnancy..and also when I firt found out I was pregnant this time I also had cultures taken when I was further along. It can be fairly routine as they are looking for any abnormanl cells and they check your cervix to make sure it is closed and looks good..as well they look for things like std's. If you have had one recently before falling pregnant they often forgo it. Otherwise it is normal. I wouldn't worry about it. :)

Yes, I did. Even though I had one a few months before, they repeated again at my first prenatal exam.

Hello ladies, thank you so much for you answers, that made me feel better. I do this every year with my annual physical, but I never asked what is it, and what they are checking for, I was always under the impression they take something out of the uterus, and check it ( how educated I can be ? lool ). Last year was my last one, I don’t think they conceder it. Thanks again. You girls are the best

Hi Col, I never have had a pap while pregnant. Don' t really know what to think of that. When was your last pap, if it was within the year, i dodn't think you'd need another one. Thats interesting everyone else has had one. Not me, I must be an oddball-lol!

lovemy3, my lat one i think it was March2005. i dont think its valid. well, its fine, if this is a safe procedure, then i will go for it. :):):)

Hi COL : ) I had a culture taken and pap smear too at my frist prenatal visit. Don't worry, I was told some doctors do it as a standard procedure just to make sure things are in order. Good luck on your first visit : ) : ) : ) Let's us know : )
