We are debating about starting a family now in our late 30's, and wondering if there are others who can shed some light on the realities of pregnancy and risks at this age.

YOu will not be sorry . Children are the greatest gift you can ever get. I am a mother of 5 15 yrs old to 22 months she was a surprise after 6 yrs. There is no reward greater then being a mother.

I don't know personally about being pregnant in the late 30's/early 40's, but I can say I know quite a few 40 year olds that had very healthy babies. Go have a consultation with your doctor and make your decision after that. If you decide to go for it just make sure you are as healthy as you can be before you do. I will say I went back and forth with deciding if I wanted children or not, but the second I became pregnant I was amazed and just knew this was the right decision for myself. Nothing in life has ever made me feel so powerful and important like growing a human life has...

Hi I am 39 and we are tryingforanother baby and if it works I will birth at 40. I really understand your feelings and felt the same way untilone of my friends went and had a beautiful baby boy at 45 last year...and it was her first!! I think one thing is clear and that is to be sure you really want this baby and that you are thoroughly checked early in the pregnancy for T21. All very clinical and hard to deal with but very important. Good lick!! Don't be afraid.
