I know this is mean... But Why would you want to have a baby at 49? Dont you think that it would suck for your child to have a mother that cannot go to the mall with them and go for long walks and go on roller coaters? Like when the kid would be 15, you would be 64??? My grandmother is 63!!!! I just think the kid would be picked on in school and would be very lonely. But well. I dunno. Just a harsh reality statement here. plz dont get mad at me or something. I just think that ppl should be a lot less selfish and think about the kids future.

I think that if you are healthy and your OB/GYN gives you the green light you should consider having a child. Children are God's gifts, and I think the previous posting from oOLilyOo is in extremely poor taste. I did not plan on getting pregnant again at 43, but when it happened I spent alot of time with the genetic counselor at the hospital. You should make an appointment and discuss all the risks. Some people are lucky enough to have children young, some of us weren't so blessed and have had them later in life. I would not trade my children for all the rice in China, now matter what my maternal age is. Being young does not make you a good Mother!!!! God Bless.

oOLIlyOoo - that was an insensitive comment. You don't know daponte's life story. What if you lose your husband, either by divorce, or illness, or accident, and after long widowing meet a nice guy whom you would want to give a child? I will be 55 when my kids are 15 . Don't see any problems with that. Daponte - I believe the eggs do not disapper one (government-chosen) day, they go over time, just like gray hair sprout over time. Geez Lily what makes you think that being older as a parent makes you so incapable of having any fun? I didn't even start LIKING roller coasters until I was 36!!! What the heck makes you think a person in their 60s can't go for long walks?? Ever heard of Jack LaLanne? That guy could probably run circles around YOU and hes in his 90!!! Geez people who say the things like you just did really p__s me off. Young moms (I was one..now I'm gonna do it again after a looong time) hate it when older moms judge them!! As they should....dontcha think young people should stop a__suming that being older than most parents does NOT make you decrepid??? Do you have any idea that many many kids are raised by their grandparents as it is because so many parents are freakin flaky and fail to take responsibility for their own kids??? What would you rather see happen to those kids? Put them in foster care because their grandparents are too OLD?? You really need to think about the things you a__sume. There are countless numbers of women and men well into their 40s who are at their fitness peaks. My dad was one of them. Think about it and please stop making a__sumptions about people because of age.... Rant over now
