Question About Ovulation Tests

I am 36 yo. I was told by an OB at work (I work in a hospital) that I should be taking ovulation tests to see if I am ovulating b/c women my age sometimes do not ovulate every month. So I have been for 2 mts. now. And it has been the same both months.No second line, no second line, pale pink second line, no second line. The instructions say the second line has to be as dark pink as the control line or you are not having an LH surge. I feel a line is there and all other days there is not one so maybe I am surging. Has anyone had experience with these that can help me to understand if I need to go to my doctor for some ovulating assistance? Am I surging or not?
