Teeth Cleaning

Well, I just got back from the dentist having a cavity filled. I asked him about pregnancy gingivitis since I have some bleeding gums with brushing and he advised me to come in and have my teeth cleaned on the 19th because there is a lot of calcification behind my back front teeth and he said with that is bacteria and in no time that can turn into a really bad case of pregnancy gingivitis. So I made the appointment but follow me here on this. He is afraid the bacteria will get into my system through my gums but if I have them cleaned isn't that going to break all the bacteria up and I am sure my gums will be bleeding and wont that accelerate the bacteria going into my system to the tenth degree? Would be very interested to hear if anyone had a case where the calcification was bad and had their teeth cleaned. I have 13 days to research this and to tell you the truth I don't know what to do and I am scared. By the way I am 22 and a half weeks pregnant.
