I was wondering if the doctor tests you for STD's while you're pregnant. My doctor didn't tell me he was going to and didn't ask me if I wanted any tests done. Whenever I was admitted to the hospital a few times before I had my baby, I signed a form that gave them permission to do an HIV/AIDs test on me. Does that mean that they did it? I've been searching forever to get an answer to this question, and I haven't had much luck. Thanks! :)

Have you tried asking your doctor? But yes they do test you and if they had you sign the form then they did but you can always ask them and if you are worried don't be they will tell you if you have something they will not keep it a secret from you...

I live in Canada and here it is routine to be tested during your first blood test after finding out you are pregnant. I cannot believe it would be any different anywhere else as the hospital has to know for if yo uhave an std there are ways of ensuring that the baby does not aquire it

I believe its routine at my first visit they took blood and at the second said my results for STD's were negative. They probably need to know this both for the babies health and if you were unaware of something you had that could put the baby at risk.
