Twins And Hard To WORK

I am 10-weeks pregnant with twins and so far it has been a tough pregnancy. I have severe nauseau/morning sickness and am extremely tired. I have a 7-year son whom I can not even have the energy to really take of and of course that is making me feel guilty. I am also sleeping on the job, of course I go to the bathroom at work and sit in the stall on the toilet and just take quick 10 to 15 minutes naps. Here is the question, yesterday my doctor gave me a note to give to my employer as he is recmmending 2-weeks of bedrest or until I pass the nauseau stage (12-weeks or so) but the thing is I m afraid if I tell my emplyer that I am pregnant and am having complications, may not get the same treatment. This a private firm and I have worked with them for 10-months. I am afraid that if I give them the doctor's note and ask for the time, they may see me as a burden and eventually let me go. Help!

Firstly, congratulations! Why don't you scoot over to the "twins and multiples" section of this forum. There are tons of great women with fantastic advice!

I would think they would legally run into issues if they tried to let you go for medical reasons!

MNMOM, there are many ways around it for employers. Most times management will simply going off of productivity and go at the angle of her no longer being able to perform her job, and that they need someone filling her shoes and state that their business cannot simply operate without someone in her position. No employer would come out and say "You're pregnant, you're trouble, you're gone." They know that would be a disaster. It's all in how they present it. (I have a little background in this.) Hopefully Angelina doesn't have this problem - but I wanted to jump in and set the record straight, that employers can easily "work around" the legal part and most are well-versed in this. Hopefully Angelina has much more understanding employers though, as the above mentioned course of action of letting her go is a last resort . Surely they'll work with you a bit, Angelina.

We'll Terio that is my main concern that they will find a clever way of letting me go. I have been with the firm only 10-months and it is private firm located in Miami. I am really concern to the point that I have not taking the doctor's advise and have been coming to work for fear of not losig my job. It is so sad what women go through.
