Worried About Hormone Levels Help

HI. I am 6 weeks pregnant, 37 and have had no m/s at all. I've heard that's common but I'm still worried about my progesterone levels etc. My first appointment with the doctor is in 4 weeks. When I call the nurse she tells me to not worry and wait until the 1st prenatal visit. If my levels are low is there something they can do about it now? Should I just not worry? Am I just being paranoid? It took my 3 years to get preg. I'm worried about miscarriages that I've read about. Help! Thanks...

lolsmoops - I am 36 and 31 wks pg...didn't have any m/s at all...also had 2 previous pgs (lost)...with no m/s at all. Could be you won't have it or hormone levels are not high enough yet to effect you. At "our" age, I would also consider calling another doctor if there is one in your area that you might like and see if they would see you earlier, because...if your progesterone level is low, then they can a__sist with that and it can help if it is needed. OR...you can call back to your reg docs office and ask for them to go ahead and check progesterone...don't know why they wouldn't cooperate with that kind of request. I guess you could go through your regular physician for bloodwork...for that matter! Whatever to ease your mind...but m/s isn't necessarily an indicator of low/high hormones.

H - I am 38 and am 6w1d. When I had the bfp a couple of weeks ago I called and demanded HCG and progesterone tests. They ordered them at the hospital. My levels were low (hcg) but tripled over 48 hours. They should not care, they should order it if you want it. Call back.

Hey Lolo, I am 36 and 10w pregnant. I miscarried earlier this year and so this time around they are much more careful. My progesterone was low and I am on prometrium (200 mg a day). I am glad that you are trying to get an earlier appointment. I had no real morning sickness until 10weeks. I had a little nausea around weeks 8-10, but this week I added vomiting to my repertoire. Yipee. Don't freak out, deep breaths, you'll be fine! All my best.

HI. I woke up this morning with bleeding just like a period. I went in for an ultrasound and the Dr could not see a baby but she did see a sac formed. She said that it's possible it might be too early and I have to go back in 1 week for another ultrasound. It's possible I am miscarrying the baby. I had my blood taken and thay are going to give me hcg levels etc. I will hopefully know something more this afternoon. Keeping my fingers crossed..

Oh lolosmoops!! What a tough time you are having...been there and know how distressing this can be...hang in there! I had 8 u/s in a 3 week period one time..what a rollercoaster. Make sure they followup on your progesterone levels for this pg and for future pgs. Also have they checked your blood type? want to verify if you are RH negative or not too.

thanks tryingx3. I have sad news to share. I did miscarry today. I had a lot of bleeding along with terrible cramps and about 4 pm I had a huge ma__s of tissue come out that looked just like a sac. (Kind of like a bubble). After that my cramps and bleeding stopped and now I'm only spotting. I will go back to the Dr tomorrow with the tissue and they will check to see that everything came out.I will also get the test results from my bloodtests. They are checking everything, blood type, progesterone, hcg levels etc. I am heartbroken. I will keep tryingto get preg. I know it will happen someday. So glad to hear that you are at 31 weeks. Is everything going well? How do you feel?

lolosmoops...I am so sorry. I know tomorrow will be a hard day for you and the weeks to come. I remember the sadness, the grief, the ANGER, the not understanding...all while trying to reconcile it with being for the best. I had to have a d&c with each of my m/c, we didn't know anything about it, but the 2nd time we sent the tissue off for testing...turned out chromosomal abnormality...which is what they say most are. Ours turned out to be one that could happen to anyone (extra chromosome 15). Our doctor was not familiar with that which scared us more, but she sent us to a genetic counselor and high risk ob and we found out answers....GOOD answers. We were "normal" and not "too old" to have a healthy baby. I say all this to let know you are not alone...they did recommend we wait 6 months before trying again....to allow the uterine tissue to rebuild after loss and d&c. Hang in there! Don't forget to come here if you need to talk...my husband, who is a dear, just didn't get the grief I was experiencing.

My morning sickness...well really afternoon and evening just kicked in this week and it is my 6th week..my friend says that hers did not kick in until week 8 and my mother never got sick. Everyone is different so don't let that stress you. Be positive!!! That is the best thing that you can do.
