For those of you who have gone through it - can you let me know what to expect? I'm curious, is this done in a hospital or your doctor's office? Can I eat before? Should I plan to take the day off and rest in bed? Should I take 2 days off?

Angela-They never said anything about eating but I was so nervous, I coulnd't anyway. My husband had started a new job 2 days before so I went alone.
My doctor sent me to the hospital to a high risk doctor to have the procedure done. They specialize in doing anmio's which put me at ease. The needle doesn't hurt but when the penetrate the uterus you will experience cramping. The actual procedure lasts less that 10 minutes. Afterwards they did another ultrasound to show me the baby was fine. If you can, take a few days off. They tell you to resume normal activity after 24 hours. Absolutely no lifting anything. Go home, put your feet up and rest.....They will give you instructions for aftercare. Good luck and post your outcome.

Tammy - thanks for the info. My doctor is doing the amnio himself and at his office, not at a hospital. Should I be worried about that?

No, I'm sure that if he is doing it himself, he must do many. My ob practice does everything else at the office but the CVS and amnio. I'm sure you will be fine.
