yes i am...i have one cup of coffee in the morning. the amount of caffine in 1 cup is fine. it's not harmful. sometimes i even have coke for lunch. it's all about moderation. and if you feel bad for drinking caffine just be sure you drink lots of what to help wash it out of your system. good luck

I do, I drink lots. (although now that I am pregnant I cut down cuz it makes me feel sick)
I drank 2-3 cups per day and a tea while pregnant with my now 6 yr old son. He is as perfect as perfect gets.

I've had some, but not any amount daily. Maybe once a week I'll have a soda, but I'm trying to stick to milk (which is one of the 2 things I crave) and juice as much as possible. My problem is that I can't bring myself to drink water... even though I know I should. UGH!

Hi Lisa, I stopped cold turkey (which only made my initial fatigue worse) but I feel better safe than sorry. I m/c'd once so I'm super cautious about EVERYTHING that goes in or on my body and I'm also an older 1st time mom-to-be at 42 yo. Data suggests that small levels of caffeine are not harmful but also remember that caffeine is also contained in sources other than coffee or soda. I used to drink Starbucks (or coffee house coffee) which also has a higher caffeine count than store bought coffee you might brew at home. When I'm feeling a craving for coffee taste, I brew decaf at home (because I actually ENJOY coffee flavor) or once every coulpe of weeks I treat myself to a "decaf" skinny vanilla latte at a coffee house!

iakram is right... it is about moderation when it comes to caffeine. I avoid it as much as possible, but probably once a week I will have a diet coke or something. When I was pregnant with my first two, I allowed myself one can of soda per day, which is nowhere even close to the amount they say MIGHT be harmful.

Hi lisa.. : ) Boy... ! do I know it hard to quit on coffee. Last pregnancy, I went cold turkey the minute I got that positive. I go .. with "the better than sorry", I drank decaf too. Then again .. just me, I'm paranoid about caffeine, chemicals and the list goes on. Decision is yours... : ) : ) : )

I'm drinking VERY WEAK (a small pinch per cup!) green tea every morning. Hope that's not going to do me or bean any harm.

Diet coke contains Aspartame, which is more harmful than coffee for human being. at least coffee is a natural product not chemical, I am not promoting coffee drinking, I am 100% with the better safe than sorry approach, just wanted to mention the Aspartame info.

Americnapregnancy.com said this about Green Tea....
According to the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, green tea is possibly unsafe when used orally in large amount because it contains caffeine. It is recommended that pregnant mothers closely monitor their intake of green tea to ensure moderate consumption. Some evidence suggests that high doses of caffeine might be a__sociated with premature delivery, low birth weight, and loss of the fetus. SO... again I think moderation is the KEY word.

And this from Babyfit.com about Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners...
The fact is that pregnant women can safely use low-calorie sweeteners unless otherwise advised by their physicians. The five low-calorie sweeteners below have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and are safe for both pregnant women and children.

moderation is really the key. I was a huge coffee and diet cola drinker before pregnancy but as soon as I got a positive (11dpo) I cut way back to 1 cup of "light" (half-caffeine) coffee in the morning and switched to an occasional 7-up or rootbeer cola during the week (no caffeine or artificial sweetners). Water and juices make up the majority of my liquid intake. Not all herbal teas are forbidden. I spoke to my midwife and also books that I have state that there are some herbal teas that are safe in moderation. Two or three cups a week in the evening are quite relaxing. You have to do the research.
