Hello I am 35 years old and I am pregnant for the 2nd time. The first one ended in an ectopic pregnancy 2 years ago. I am also planning a wedding. Me and my fiance have only been together for 6 months but decided very early in our relationship to get married. I was with my last boyfriend for 5 years and we were actually trying to have a child and was having difficulties. My first hcg level was 1540 which concerned me since that was after my 2ww. I had IUI on May 27th. My second hcg level is only 1873 on June 12, and I started having a pure like discharge. I have to go back to the doctor on Monday but I have a co-worker who became pregnant at 42 nauturally and one that became pregnant at 48 and both had normal pregnancy and health children.

Colleen: congrats to you and your good NT results. The NT measurements were great all within normal range and no echogenic spots on any of the organs (although there was a slight scare that turned out to be the ultrasound' equipment's fault). The odds got worse only after my blood test---based on the chemistry in my blood and based on my age. I'm at risk for a DS baby but like I said, I'm praying that all will be alright.

If you ladies don't hear from me in a few weeks, it's because we have to move everything out of our house to have new floors installed (including my desk and computer). Please keep this thread alive though! I enjoy hearing about your pregnancies and hope to read more updates when I'm back. Until then--congratulations again everyone and good luck with your pregnancies. My next ob/gyn appointment is this Thursday. I'll be back when the floors are done or sooner if I find my laptop!!!

yamen- congrats on your pregnancy and wedding and sorry to hear of your loss. How did your doctors appointment go? Hope all is well with your little one. Perl- they always put us over 35'ers at a very high risk, but to be honest, I personally have not heard of any problems with all the ladies I know of that have had babies at our age. I wonder where these numbers are come from. Since the NT went well, I'm sure your little one will be fine. Good luck at your appt this Thursday and please update us when you can (I know it's difficult having the house torn apart). Colleen

hi ladies....wow, this thread got long....how exciting! i hope that every one is well. :) tomorrow i have an ultrasound. its actually one of a few i have to watch my babies kindneys. when i went in for the big u/s at 5 months, they found urine backed in to his kidneys and have been monitoring it. one kidney has stayed the same and the other got a little better. apparently this hapeens with boys quite a lot and my dr. doesnt seem worried at all. in fact she told me it almost always clears up. worst case scenario theyd have to take heim early or put a stint in after birth. the specialist isnt worried either so i certainly am not. the time between that initial diagnosis and the first follow up was rough, but now everything is ok. anyway....hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all. Am 42 and around 91/2 wks pregnant with my first baby. My Husband and I are still in shock as we had just decided a few months ago to let nature take it's course and bingo - first time result! We had our first scan last week and that made it real. Couldn't believe we were looking at something inside me that had a beating heart and was waving it's arms! I know we are very lucky but we've been told some scary stats e.g. 1:50 chance of Downs Syndrome. In our hearts, we feel that all is well but only an amnio will show for sure and that 's 6 wks away. Apart from that, I've had it easy so far - no sickness, just a very tender chest and fatigue. I've even lost weight but I think that's down to no more red wine, cheese and crackers every night! Also I became vegetarian in March after a Tony Tobbins event so it's been a life changing few months in every way. Bye for now

Thats great news MrsT!!!! Your story sounds just like mine. I am 37 and had no problem getting pregnant (we are 6 weeks now). I also lost some weight during the past 6 weeks.....I also contributed this to not drinking wine at night or on weekends. As for the risks at our ages......I discussed this concern on my first doctors appointment. My doctor told me that I am NOT to listen to anyone, take care of myself and enjoy the pregnancy. Reading about all the risks can drive you insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Continue to take good care of yourself and best of luck!!!!

clindholm - June 18

Leslie- I'm glad that the problem is not a big deal. I had my lo early- 36 1/2 weeks and although small, she was and is just perfect. I'm sure yours will be too. Dog- that is tooo funny, gotta love the MIL's! Mrs T- that is wonderful, congrats!!! Do NOT listen to those stats!!! You will get a 1st Trimester screening(11-14 weeks) consisting of bloodwork and an ultrsound that will scan for chromosomal defects. Also there is a 2nd Trimester screening (18-20 weeks) which will also check for that kind of thing. THEY CAN BE WRONG! I had a scare last time and my girl is perfect. But you don't need to do an invasive amnio w/ risk of miscarriage. Try to relax (I wish I could take my own advice!) Colleen

ROKBOX - June 19

I hi im 39 and 7wks pregnant with my 2nd child (my other one is 12)i was lucky it only took 4 months ,how ever i am experiencing cramping like mild period cramping ,and of coarse worried everytime i go to the washroom expecting the worse ,although i have had no sign of blood at all but reading other womans forums about being pregnant and then they go for their first ultra sound only to find out the baby isn't living anymore and they have had no symtons .my first drs appt is in 2weeks ,hopefully i will get a positve reasurance

clindholm - June 20

Leslie, that's wonderful! ROXBOX- congrats on your pregnancy! I also will be 39 on Tuesday. I had the period like cramps for the first few weeks as well, I was told it was normal. You may want to call the doc & let them know that you're cramping, it may set your mind at ease if they decide to bring you in early or tell you it's no big deal. I too am very nervous reading some of these posts, I did not realize how common miscarriages are and I worry constantly. I wish I could relax. I really don't have any symptoms so that worries me too (except tired, hungry) Colleen

Hi to all of you, I'm 42 and just had my third baby over 35....that's all three of them too. All of them are absolutely perfect and were straightforward pregnancies and homebirths. We conceived in month 1, month 4, and month one. I also had one chemical pregnancy at 39 (lasted just 2-3 days after my period was due). My partner is seven years younger than me and all our conceptions have been natural. I have two sons and a daughter, aged 5, 15 months and nearly three weeks. Congrats to all on their babies, and good luck to those trying to conceive. Things can certainly go wrong, but usually they won't, so it's worth chasing your dream....

Hi Ladies, I am 37 and about 4.3 weeks pregnant with my first. I am finding it frustrating that I can not talk to anyone about the symptoms I am having. I have read some of the threads here and I am happy to hear some of you had no troubles. When I found out I was pregnant last week, I went in for a blood test then another one two days later. The Dr. told me my levels had doubled and that was good. Since, I found out I was pregnant, my bbs have been very sore and I have had slight cramping. Now, I know these symptoms are normal. The thing is, the cramping has subsided with the exception of very faint ones... occaisionally. The bbs are not nearly as sore. I have had no morning sickness or spotting as I have read in some other threads. I have the first u/s scheduled for 7/7. I am nervous after reading all the threads that there is a possibility of a non-viable pregnancy. I know I am getting my panties all in a bundle over worry about all the stuff I have read and heard. How do I not worry so much. Does anyone know the percentage of non-viable pregnancies and is the percentage rate for mis-carriages higher for women over 35? Ladies, I am so nervous! Especially, since my symptoms have almost disappeared.

dogmom - June 25

Hi Maho!!!! I am also 37 and 7 weeks pregnant. I also drove myself crazy the first few weeks I knew I was pregnant. Somedays I felt symptoms, other days I did not. I went to the doctor at 4 weeks and he said it was too early to tell if my pregnancy was viable so I had to wait 3 more weeks to see if there is a heartbeat. Yesterday my 3 week wait wait was over.......Yes we have a heartbeat and everything is right on track! Stay positive and just take care of yourself.
