Hi Maho!!!!
I am also 37 and 7 weeks pregnant. I also drove myself crazy the first few weeks I knew I was pregnant. Somedays I felt symptoms, other days I did not. I went to the doctor at 4 weeks and he said it was too early to tell if my pregnancy was viable so I had to wait 3 more weeks to see if there is a heartbeat. Yesterday my 3 week wait wait was over.......Yes we have a heartbeat and everything is right on track! Stay positive and just take care of yourself.

Thanks DogMom! I actually just called my doctor and asked how many weeks they thought I was according to the blood test. They told me I was about 3.5 weeks (so I was close). Thank you and I will try not to obsess too much...it's so hard:( I just pray every day that everything will go as it was meant to be.:) Thanks for your story, it helps knowing others are as nutty as myself ;) Good luck to you and I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Maho and congrats!- I just turned 39 on Tuesday and am 16 weeks with our second. I have never had morning sickness with either of my pg's, but I have had the cramping, sore bb's and a ridiculous appet_te. I too worry all the time and cannot offer any advice on how NOT to worry. I am actually considering renting a doppler from belly beats to check the heartbeat between doctor visits. My doc actually humored me at my last appt, and brought me back in two weeks (which will be tomorrow) just to ck the heartbeat for my peace of mind. Until I feel movement, I will worry like crazy, I think it's normal. dogmom- sooo glad to hear your wait is over and all is well with your little one. Colleen

Thanks clindholm and dogmom for sharing your stories.Glad to hear symptoms can vary as you both have experienced. I have to decided to try and let it go...try to let nature take it's course...hopefully it will be a happy and healthy course:) I need to let go of the fear...FEAR = False Evidences Appearing Real:)

Maho,
I also forgot to mention just how insane I was getting the first few weeks. I have never been much of a religous fanatic, but I started praying several times a day. I turned to my husband one night and said to him "I am going to find a church by my job and go there to pray on my lunch breaks". My husband told me I was becomming nuts so I never did go and find the nearest church.

dogmom- I hear ya on the praying, I do it all the time. You don't need a church, God hears you anyway. It helps me alot. I will probably be just as insane until December. Pregnancy is ridiculously long!

Just adding another post for those 35+. I am 41 years old and 17 weeks pregnant with my first. We became pregnant almost right away and so far things have been going well. I have been VERY lucky to have no nausea at all and almost no pregnancy symptoms. Everything looked great on my last ultrasound and just waiting amno results now. The waiting is hard, even though I feel pretty confident that all is fine.

Hi all. I'm now 12 weeks pregnant and looking forward to my second scan next week. I still haven't had many symptoms - lucky me! The only downside with this is that sometimes I wonder if I am still pregnant! I was even thinking about buying a Fetal Doppler. I'm in two minds though, as I think I might become obsessive and start checking for a heartbeat every 5 minutes! Because of my age (42), I am pretty sure I will have an amnio. Halifax41, did you have yours at 16 wks? What did it feel like and how long do you have to wait for the results? Thanks.

MrsT, I had my amnio done on June 24, I am hoping to have the initial fast results (in a day or two, would have been sooner except for the timing of when the amnio was drawn, when the lab they send it out to would have received, it and the timing of a weekend), the full results usually take 2 weeks or so depending on how busy the lab is, although I have seen some people get results in 8-10 days). As far as the amnio itself, the needle was pretty painless, I had a little extra pain simply because my uterus decided to tense up and they had to wait for it to relax before advancing the needle the rest of the way (uterus muscle is very tough when contracted and it is such a thin needle they use). The drawing of the fluid is very quick and I felt nothing from that. I had some mild cramping off and on for a couple hours afterwards and simply rested which helped that ease. Overall it wasn't bad and some women don't even get any cramping, so for them it wouldn't feel much worse than a typical blooddraw would. I have felt the same way, my lack of symptoms makes it hard not to have a little worry once in awhile. A doppler would be comforting at those times.

MrsT, oops missed one part of my answer, I had mine done at 16 weeks 3 days. The ultrasound they do before and during the amnio is great, got to see the little one kicking and waving arms and doing "yoga poses" ;-) They scan briefly afterwards as well so you can see all is well and that the heartbeat is good and strong.

Hi Halifax41. Thanks for the detailed answer. I'm not good with needles so will probably insist on a blindfold before I even enter the room! I'm very glad to hear that the process isn't painful and feel more rea__sured in knowing that there will be constant scans/monitoring. This whole situation feels very surreal and I'm not switched on emotionally yet. Does anyone else feel like they're on the outside looking in?

Hi Halifax and MrsT- Congrats to you both! Just a question, I see you both had the amnio, why did the doctor recommend it? Was there a specific reason or just due to age? I have also considered renting the doppler, it's about $45 per month at least until I feel more movement. I hope you all are feeling well! Colleen

clindholm, hi there! My husband and I decided on the amnio ourselves after doing a lot of reading on-line about the screening tests (that simply give you odds, and have frequent false positive and sometimes give false negatives) versus the certainty of having amnio results where they have looked at the chromosomes. For us, given our ages, and some other personal reasons, we simply wanted to have the a__surance of this test (or in the worst case to be aware of what we were dealing with and go forward from there). My scans and the NT were fine, but I guess we needed more certainty.
Been feeling great, have basically had no pregnancy symptoms to speak of. Still have yet to feel movement and barely showing, would make a doppler a nice thing to have, just for rea__surance. See my doctor in 3 more days, will be so happy to hear heartbeat again...the amnio went well but have had slight nerves since.

Hi Everyone! Dogmom here.......This is my first pregnancy (at 37) and I am having some strange symptoms. I am just going into my 8th week, I do get nausea from time to time, but instead of vomiting I get the runs!!!! My stomach is constantly churning and I always feel like I can get another stomach attack any second. Anyone else ever experience this????????

Hi DogMom,
I think I am entering my 5th week and all of a sudden my symptoms have changed. I went from the big "C" to now the big "D". It's not constant..but it's there and it almost feels like my stomach is aching. I just bought "Everything you need to know about pregnancy" book and each time I have a symptom, I just look it up in the book. It says symptoms vary from woman to woman (obviously), but there is something about the big "D". The one thing it mentions is to make SURE you are staying hydrated. If it gets too severe, I would just call your Dr's off and talk to a nurse. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Maho,
I have been reading the same book "what to expect when your expecting." The book said what ever is normal for you would be normal during pregnancy. I always had the same problem right around the time of my period and now it seems to be following me into my pregnancy.
