Are Home Pregnacy Tests Accurate

if you suspect you are at least 5 months pregnant but have had no symptoms, can home pregnancy tests still be used to determine posetive or negative, at that stage? and are they as accurate as they are when tested at an earlier stage?

I have been told that NO, they are not accurate at that stage since the placenta has taken over at about 12 weeks in producing the hormones necessary to sustain the pregnancy......if you suspect you are pregnant, ask your dr for an utrasound
