Echogenic Foci Spots On The Fetus Heart

Just another update here... I went in for my 24 week u/s on the twins. The boy is the one with the spot on his heart and a dilated kidney. Well, they tech couldn't find the spot - then the doctor came in and it took her about 5 minutes of searching the heart to find it. So it is much smaller now. She gave me a neat a___lagy. She said it's most likely calcium.... And as he gets bigger and uses his heart more it diminishes... Like putting sugar in coffee... It dissolves as you shake things up. Anyway, here's to happy endings....

I wrote a while back about the echgenic focus they found on our babies heart. At the time, I was living in New York where the nurse called me and told me that it was a soft marker for downs and that I should seek councelling and another ultrasound. She did say that she wasn't worried about it and that it most likely meant nothing. We opted to wait for the councelling and ultrasound until we moved back to Canada where we are fully insured. Well we just had our second ultrasound at 35 weeks and the echogenic focus is completely gone. In fact both the tech who did the ultrasound and our doctor said they see them all the time. The tech was surprised they even wanted us to come for another ultrasound because in Alberta, they wouldn't even consider it unless there were at least three soft markers. He said all other measurements looked great and nothing he could see should cause any concern. I know this is similar to what many of you have already experienced but I just thought I'd help reinforce that we should worry. I'll write again in a few weeks when we have what I'm sure will be a healthy baby.

Hi All, Well it is nearly time for me to see my little baby. I am 37 weeks now so it won't be long. I havebeen feeling a lot better with my anxiety lately, although now that it has come so close it has come back again mildly. I know I should keep positive (and I am most of the time), but it is still difficult at times. I will keep you all posted in the near future of the birth of my healthy baby. LOL xxx

I saw my high risk specialist yesterday. It was a different doctor out of the group, they have several doctors. He said everything looked great. He said the spot is still there but is very small. He said he would not think twice about it. He sees them all the time just because they have high tech ultrasounds that are able to pick everything up. When I went to my regular OB 2 weeks ago they did not see the spot on their ultrasound machine. So I am trying not to worry at all about it anymore. I am now at 24 weeks.

Hello Everyone - I gave both on Monday to a beautiful baby girl we named Macy. Please everyone read this post and start to feel more positive. I posted on here around week 20. My baby had 2 markers. Firstly the white dot on her heart (echogenicfoci) and Secondly a CPC which is a cyst on her brain. I worried so much between week 20 and 25 and then after reading everyone on the internet and especially this forum I started to relax. My baby had the white dot it seemed up to the birth and my doctor had no concerns whatsoever. I live in England and see a private doctor who is very very experience. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your pregnancies without worry (which i understand is easier said than done). Good Luck to you all.

Hi Patty, I have a healthy 7 month old baby girl. I went through the same thing re: this focus plus she had a dilation of one kidney which really freaked me out and had me worrying for 4 months this was found at my 20th sono. At 30 wks the focus was gone but I still worried. i never had the amnio This focus is common and probably in years to come they won't even mention it my Dr. said. Just keep up the good spirits I know thats easier said then done. She is my third baby and so beautiful and healthy. Just look forward to your new addition. good Luck

Hello, I posted back on March 15, 2007 that they had seen a ecogenic focus on my son's heart at the 19 week ultrasound. I had my baby boy on July 21 and he is totally healthy. I am so glad I did not worry about it throughout my pregnancy. Good luck to everyone!

My wife is 36 weeks pregnant and has been measuring large for date so we had another U/S today to check the babies size and position. The spot on her heart is no where to be found!! She is however in a breech presentation at this time.

Hello all. I originally posted on this board back in March when I was about 18 weeks pregnant and they found an Echogenic foci on our baby's heart during the ultrasound. I worrie about this everyday for the next 22 weeks, and on July 25th we had an absolutely perfect, healthy baby girl. I know it's easy for me to say now not to worry, but I thought I could at least offer at least one more story of these little spots meaning nothing! Best wishes to all you moms for a happy and healthy pregnancy as you wait for your perfect little babies to be born.

hello everyone, this is my first post. found out yesterday that we have an echo on the left ventricle of our baby carter, and though the doc says she is not worried, she has still ordered a level 2 us. i go in tomorrow for that. my afp tests came back negative and it was the only marker on the first us, but i am just so scared right now. i must say these posts are the only thing getting me through it right now, so thank you for the postive stories!

I just turned 33 and I am having my second child-girl. I just got a call from the genetic counselor about the white spot on her heart during my level two us. I had scheduled an amnio for Monday but I canceled that because I would like to talk to my doctor first on Tuesday. I did have a negative MS-AFP but I was just so worried sick. I am glad to have found this site. I am scared to get an amnio but what if is the only question on my mind.

Hi all, I posted back in March/April when they found an echogenic focus on my baby's heart. Well as promised I would post after the birth of my baby. Well our little precious angel "Martina" was born 2 weeks earlier perfectly HEALTHY. I worried unnecessarily for the last 18 weeks of my pregnancy. She decided to come into the world 2 weeks by caesarian as I ended up with preclampsia symptoms. All good now and we are over the moon. But I do have lot's of regrets that I worried too much over the the last weeks of my pregnancy due to the minor finding back in March - please keep positive all as all the stories have been positive ones. Regards and Best wishes to all :). LOL

hi halloween: the level II went very well. they found no other markers and with the negative afp said we have nothing to worry about and that they are confidant in the results that the baby is just fine. our doc said if we wanted we could do an amnio, but i am putting faith in all of your stories and her advice, and hoping not to stress over this any longer. thank you for your thoughts and concern. peppermint patty, i hope your appt. goes well on tuesday, i am betting your doc says your little one is just fine as well!
