Hi everyone! When I found out my daughter had an echo on her heart, I freaked out! This sight was the only rea__surance for me and my partner. Just having so many other expectant mothers going through what I was made me feel I could get through it. That was 2 years ago I last posted anything on this website. I am happy to say that "Trinity" was born on 8-3-07 (International Women's Day) absolutely perfect! She was perfectly normal. I couldn't believe I spent the last 20 weeks of my pregnancy so anxious and worried. She is a beautiful little 2 year old and now I can hardly remember she had the echo at all! To all you expectant mums and dads, enjoy your pregnancy and remember any child that is born, is truly a miracle that comes in all shapes and sizes! Tamara xx

Hello all!
I haven't visited this site in quite some time, but I thought I'd return and give you an update on my son. Just as all of your success stories were comforting to me during my pregnancy, I figured I'd send a little comfort you way! In August of 2006, I shared my story regarding the two soft markers that were found during my 20 week ,level 2 ultrasound...an echogenic foci on my son's heart and a choroid plexus cyst on his brain. EIF as we all know is a__sociated with Down Syndrome and CPCs, I was told, are a__sociated with Trisomy 18...a fatal condition. My husband and I did seek help from a genetic counselor where we opted out of the amnio due to the high risks of miscarriage. I spent many days and nights crying and worrying over my son's health. I am very happy to say that on January 29, 2007, I delivered a healthy 9 lbs, 9 oz baby boy. Now that he is two years old, I can tell you that he is growing to be a very strong and very healthy little boy!!
I would also like to relay another success story...my girlfriend's 20 week ultrasound showed 5 soft markers, and she recently delivered a very healthy baby girl! Looking back to my pregnancy, I was very thankful for this forum...it gave me hope. I think it's amazing that with today's technology, we have a means of sharing our worries and fears with others with the opportunity of gaining a bit of comfort at the same time. My prayers are with you all!

Hi. Please don't worry. Enjoy your pregnancy. We didn't know any better and my daughter and son-in-law worried for months. It was such a sad time. They were "much more likely" then you are to have a child with down syndrome and my 3 year old granddaughter is perfectly healthy. So don't worry. Best of luck to you ! ! !

My daughter had a daughter 3 years ago. She spent her pregnancy worrying about marker that made her pretty likely to have a child with down syndrome and Sydney is a perfectly healthy adorable 3 year old. As to her sister she let my grandson *who was 3 at the time* help her. He would put the pacifier in her mouth in the car if she cried and if that didn't work he would get the bottle out of the bag. As long as they are a part of what is going on they will not resent the new addition. Good luck.

By the way my daughter was 37. She also opted out of the amnio since she would not terminate and thank god. My granddaughter is perfect.

Hello everybody...I wanted to report back in with my own story. My original post was in January 2008 (page 45). I had indicated my son had the focus on his heart as well. I am not even sure if I ever posted again after that and am not sure how to look to find all my posts.
Anyway...I too had a healthy baby boy born March 4, 2008. He is now over a year old and definitely keeps me on my toes.
I had mentioned going to the 30 week u/s in my original post and I will say that at that u/s the spot had actually disapeared or faded completely. So for some of you, you may even get that good news before your baby is born.
I am actually pregnant with my 2nd child now and am due in late September. I just found out the results of the first trimester screening. 1/1700...which is "worse" than my odds with the first pregnancy with the focus. So weird, but I am a little older, so maybe that is it. Anyway..with dear son I was originally given 1/10,000 but they moved to 1/5,000 after the echogenic focus was found.
I got back on April 28 for the 2nd u/s, so I am curious to see if a focus will show up for this child too. That will be interesting but I have a feeling I will at least be slightly less stressed this go around.
Good luck to you all. I am sure you will all have healthy babies soon! :)

Hi Everyone,
I have not posted in a while but I promised myself that I would come back and post when my daughter is born. I am happy and thankful to God that we delivered a health baby girl, my biggest regret is and was that I did not enjoy my pregnancy; I was constantly crying and worrying. God is truly a covenant keeping God. This site has been such a stress reliever for me, ladies please enjoy your pregnancy and all is/will be well.

Hello All!!!!!!!!!
So, for those of you who aren't on facebook, the big news is that on March 18th, I gave birth to a handsome, completely healthy baby boy! We named him Carter and he was 8 pounds 1 ounce, 20 inches long! He is absolutely amazing and doing really really well! When the pediatrician checked him over, I asked if we needed to do further testing about the EIF and he laughed at me and said "Why??? He's perfectly healthy!! I can't believe they even told you about it!". He was actually kind of miffed that I was concerned about it at all. Carter does have a very slight heart murmur (which is NOT tied to the EIF in any way at all) so we had to do an ECG, which came back entirely normal. This is something that runs in my family though as my 3 year old has a heart murmur, my dad, my sister-in-law.....they are very very commmon. So no concerns at all and I spent the last 4 months worrying over absolutely nothing!!!!!
I hope that my story can help everyone relax a little bit more and please, try to enjoy your pregnancy! This marker is so weak and really means nothing!
Well, I'll be checking back often to see how all of you ladies are doing! I can't wait to hear more fantastic birth stories and more little babies coming! Take care of yourselves!!!
