Hi ladies. I am new here. I am 21 wks pregnant with my 2nd baby, a girl. 2 wks ago I was so excited to find out I was having a girl, then yesterday I got the dreaded news that my ultrasound showed an echogenic cardio foci ( I think that's what it was called anyways! My mind was spinning). Anyways, during my googling research I found this site. It is rea__suring, but I am just going through a rollercoater of emotions right now. I broke down crying in the doctors office. I have only told my cousin and a mom group I'm in. So I was happy to find this group. I hope to join some of the many lucky ladies who it turned out were worrying for nothing! I will love her no matter what (already do!) but I am pretty d__n scared.

Hi iluvsweetpea, please try not to worry. Have you had the opportunity to join the Facebook Support Group? You can send a message to stephanie egger on FB. add her name at the top and search for her. Then send her a message and let her know you would like to join the group. I encourage you to join and I'm sure you will find a lot of encouraging postive stories. I like yourself found out at my 20 week US that the Echogenic Foci was discovered on my baby's heart on both the left and right ventrical. Thank goodness for this forum along with the facebook support group. Try not to spend your pregnancy worrying. I know it's harder said than done. I was also in tears. Good luck! Nancy

Thank you, I haven't joined the facebook group but I think I will. Just from what I've read here I feel a little better, but I am a natural worry wort so news like this "it might be, it might not be" is pretty upsetting. Thanks for the info I will send her a message after I put my 2 yr old to bed! : )

Hi, me again. I sent a msg to a Stephanie Egger on FB but wasn't sure it was the right one. Her pic had a kitten that was painted like a cartoon. Anyways, I haven't heard back yet about joining the support group so I was just wondering if I was asking the right person. Thanks for any help. : ) ~Lesley

Hi Everyone,
I promised myself tha I would post an update. My daughter Grace Adrianna was born on May 21st! on her due date. It was LOVE at first sight. No mention of DS. She weighed an impressive 7 lbs 14 ozs. The EIF was found at the 20 week ultrasound on both the LV and the RV. Keep praying everyone. You all will have healthy babies.

Hi!!! I wanted to let all moms and dads know that I had my twins last month!! They are both HEALTHY! My girl twin had an EIF on LV. Just wanted everyone to know that EIF's are nothing to worry about. I was considered high risk due to my age (38) and having twins; also, I have a downs sister. Of course, throughout my pregnancy I worried. The literature I've read reported that EIF'S aren't worrisome if you're low risk or younger than 35. So, worried off & on for months. I want to thank all moms/dads who posted their stories & updates. I want to especially thank Twinmama2b, KrisD, de hugh, and micha. I've read and reread their posts MULTIPLE times to get me through the rough days. Thanks Micha for posting Dr. Roy Filly's response; that letter was a saving grace for me. Again, thank you very much! LOTS of PRAYERS, this forum & FB got me through this ordeal. And for all the moms who just discovered EIF, do the best you can to enjoy the miracle that has been given. I hope you don't let it overshadow any joy. Good luck and God bless.

Ahhhh, Congratulations tnv0001!! I got goosebumps reading that!! Enjoy the twins... It's tough - especially the first few months. If I can offer any advice, let me know and I will pa__s on my email!!! Mine are turning 4 this fall - so we have the diapers, crying, bottles and stressful sleepless nights behind us. Pretty soon it will be twice the hugs and twice the giggles!!! But for now, it's a lot of work!!!
Congrats to you on your precious gifts!! :)

de_hugh and tnv0001 - I'm so incredibly happy for both of you. It's amazing how quickly all the worry just becomes a thing of the past. Enjoy your bundles of joy! And tnv0001 --- good luck! My twins are 4 1/2 months old now and trust me when I say, it does get better. The first 8 weeks were pretty rough, but I just kept reminding myself how lucky I was to have two healthy happy babies, and it did make the 2 AM feedings (and 3AM and 4AM and 4:48AM and 5:30 AM feedings) much more bearable. This is all wonderful wonderful news.

WOW ITS BEEN SO LONG SINCE I LOGGED IN ,I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST MEMBERS TO POST IN REFERENCE TO THIS TOPIC. BACK IN 2007 DURING MY 20TH WEEK ULTRASOUND THE TECH FOUND SPOTS IN MY SONS HEART . I WAS SO WORRIED BECAUSE DOCTOR SAID IT WAS A MARKER FOR DOWN SYNDROME . I DIDN'T ENJOY PART OF MY PREGNANCY DUE TO THESE SPOTS. I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT MY SON WAS BORN DECEMBER 18TH 2007 A VERY HEALTHY BOY. MY 3 YEAR OLD IS THE BEST THING EVER AND I REGRET NOT ENJOYING MY PREGNANCY .

Hi everyone, I have been stalking this forum for months. At my 20 week ultrasound, my husband and I were thrilled to find out we were having another little girl. The ultrasound tech said she was giving the report to the doctor there and she would be right in. She started out by saying all the tests for DS came back fine except for an EIF in her heart which she then explained was a weak marker. She told me because I was going to be 35 at delivery, it is something they have to let me know about. At first my husband and I were OK, then the next day it hit us and we did the research on the internet and had days of sadness and anxiety. We didn't know if we should do an amnio and spoke to our doctor and he didn't seem concerned. We decided against the amnio and to just wait it out and try to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy. My first trimester nuchal fold came back the best it could and even though the EIF cut that number in half, we tried to take solace in that. I spent many days on this site reading all of the positive stories and it really helped me get though some tough days. On June 14th, 2 weeks early, our little girl Emerson was born. She is PERFECT and healthy!!! We mentioned the EIF to the pediatrician and she said her heart sounded great and she blames the technology used today in seeing things that were never seen before and the experts don't know what to do with it all. I just wanted to post another positive outcome to help all those other parents who are in the same place we were. Best of luck to all of you!!

Alneesa,
Take comfort in all the positive outcomes on this forum. My little girl had this marker as well and I truly worried and stressed my entire last half of pregnancy. Please don't do this to yourself and allow yourself to enjoy that little miracle inside you! She is a happy and healthy little 7 month old now. This is a more common finding with the advances in technology. Try and relax. It's healthier for you and the baby.
