FIRST Pregnancy Over 35

I'm new here and newly pregnant. I'm Day 33 of my monthly cycle and took the pg test this morning. (It was positive.) I'm 36 years old until Wednesday, when I turn 37! I'd be due in July 2007. This is my first pregnancy. :) I guess that makes me 4 weeks pregnant? We likely conceived Nov. 4 (or maybe Nov. 2 or 3). My cycles are too inconsistent to know for sure. It's weird to be X weeks pregnant knowing that the first week or two (?) of pregnancy is before conception?

Perchy, I wrote you on the July Due date thread also. Yeah, it is weird how they count the weeks pg! It still confuses me. Then when they start doing the ultrasounds, my ob adjusted the date to the actual date...and I felt like I lost 2 weeks! Good Luck, enjoy this special time.

how many tests did you run bfn before getting bfp on cd 33? this might help encourage someone!

well you had better get used to the term "high risk due to advanced maturnal age!!" LOL I was 34 when I got prego with my 3rd almost 35 and I tell you what you sure hear that term alot BUT BESIDES THAT BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AND IT IS TRUELY WONDERFUL TO BRING A NEW LIFE INTO THIS WORLD!! by the way my ds is 10months old now so I guess it was not so bad with my advanced maturnal age thing LOL!!

Thanks all. rl, yeah, I know I'm old! Looking forward to being reminded (NOT!). I did my first test on cd33 because I really thought we missed the right time this month. I tried "back in my twenties" with my ex for 7 months unsuccessfully. I figured the odds were against me. I was even psyching myself up for not having kids. "If we can't have kids we'll just travel more." I hear all the time that the more you want it, the harder it is. That enough couples have "given up" only to become pregnant soon after. It almost sounds like the trick is to not try so hard. I really didn't think I was pg this month. I would have bet money on it. (I drank wine on four different occa__sions feeling so sure I wasn't pg.) Blood test scheduled for Monday, 11/27... Of course, it bothers me I had that wine, and that I didn't have the intuition to know otherwise. Some women "just know." I remained clueless! I did wake up a few nights after when I think might have been conception. It was 2:30 am and I was wide awake. Can rapid cell development wake you up? My heart was racing, which I found odd (so I got out of bed and reached for a coke!) I stayed up. I didn't go back to bed. It was odd for me, and now I wonder if my body knew something that my intuition slept through...

perchy..do NOT worry about drinking the wine prior!!! You found out v. early and that little blastocyst doesnt even implant til day 9-10...the crucial time is 6-12 wks.. I did the same thing...had no clue i was pg and had a 40th bday party for DH just a week prior to BFP. Heck, our mothers drank all the way thru thier pregnacies and we're normal..somewhat! lol Relax, take your prenatals vits and eat well and NOW dont drink wine...you'll be great! .

Well, I had a blood test yesterday and even that says I'm pg. Six weeks now! Due somewhere around July 24. But I won't meet with the doctor for another three weeks. They aim for between 8 and 10. Hmph.

Happy Birthday Perchy!!! and Congrats

good news perchy. I had my first appt and u/s. It was kinda early but we saw a fetal pole and heartbeat. Still v. tiny. She put me at 6wks 4 days. My prog. was down 2 pts so she wants me to take 100mgs orally. Trying not too worry. But the news is as good as it gets right now....we still have a 5 week wait ahead of us before I get past the point where I m/c'd the last 2 X.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, lovemy, and the vesry best wishes to you too, suze! I guess I am 7 weeks pregnant now and still await seeing a doctor. I have an appointment for the 21st, when I will be 9 weeks pregnant. I've started feeling mildly queasy, mostly when I am hungry or near food I don't want to eat.

Congrats Perchy! I am now 35 and pregnant with my first too. I have heard the hated term a lot too. It can really make you insecure! I had the same experiende where I thought I definitely wouldn't be pregnant that month. I had a beer the night before I tested postive. Stupid! But it's true that the foetus doesn't ingest the alcohol yet so I stopped worrying. How are you doing now?? Is your appointment on the 21st of this month?

Congrats to you. I am one year ahead in age but right on the money with due date and such. This will be my first as well. Hope it all goes perfectly for you.
