Ok
I need advice from the pros on here. It's been twenty years since I have had any prenatal anything! Not to mention that the stuff I am reading on this site is starting to kinda scare me?
I am 38 (almost 39) getting ready to schedule a first visit. What should I expect? Is my OB gonna be all gloom and doom about the natural process of being pregnant?? Geez!
It's not as if I am on my way to the grave or anything!!

With my docs nothing of the sort happened (my first preg was at 38, delivery at 39). I did feel more attention (more ultrasounds, an amnio) but no scare. Just professional behavior. I didn't read on the Internet as much at that time. I was more ignorant which was a blessing. All I did read books on pregnancy and just sailed through mine. They were unsure if I could go v____ally as they would for any woman with first pregnancy, when the ability is not known yet. But yours is known. There's an upsurge in later pregnancies in women so there shouldn't be a big fuss. Well, the only signal I got was from my family doctor (after my second delivery at 41) when I said it wasn't decided if I'd have another one. She was almost affirmative that I wouldn't... but I don't bother what other people think of my life decisions.
