I am having this papa test done on Monday, level 2 ultrasound and bloodwork. Can anyone share their experiences, what are they looking for in the blood, and how does the ultrasound play into this - any help would be appreciated as I'm very nervous, 12 weeks , 35 yrs old

Lori..not sure what papa test is but the bloodwork I think is to test for fetal abnormalities. Best to check with your medical people and find out exactly what they're doing. The ultrasound is I think routine 12 weeks. I was also v. nervous about the prospects of something being wrong and had every test in the book - including the amnio. I don't recommend the AFP test (which is some kind of screening test that says 'you may/may not be likely to have chromz. probs' Mine came back as a good result, but it is a non-conclusive test and if you feel you need to know, best just go for the amnio. Maybe tmi, but hope it helps.

I called the dr and he said it is a 2-d ultra sound with blood work to check for any genetic disorders, I don't understand why at 35, and healthy I need this, as any testing the waiting for results is KILLER, thanks
