Just wanted to let you all know that I had my baby boy at 23 weeks and 2 days gestation on march 5th. He weighed 13 onces and was 10 1/2 inches long, so far he is stable and doing great. There was an infection in my placenta and that's why I went into pre-term labor. We've had 2 brain ultrasounds and there's been no brain bleeds. Doctors and nurses are pretty amazed at how well he's doing and give him a pretty good chance that he will survive. I'm asking everyone out there to please say a prayer for him, his name is Hunter Sanders. Thank you

KellieAnne, congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. Your baby will be included in my prayers. I was wondering. When you were told by your doctor that you had an infection in your placenta, what was the symptoms you were experiencing? I am on my 21 wks. pregnancy. Thank you.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers. Hunter is doing great!! They have given us a 85% chance that he will come home, which we hope will be on my due date (June 30th), he now weights 1 pound 6 onces. To Angel2, I did not have any symptoms, I'm 36 years old and had a great pregnancy, this was my first, all my ultrasounds came back normal I just woke up on Sunday March 5th not really feeling well and felt that something was wrong. We went into the hospital and they said I had a bladder infection, gave me a shot to stop contractions and sent me home. We were home for less than an hour and my water broke, so we went back, when the doctor realized that I was going to deliever Hunter they had me ambulanced to a different hospital. The doctors realized that I probably had an infection because nothing would stop the contractions and I was blacking out because of the pain. I later found out that I was leaking amniotic fluid and that's how the infection got to the placenta. At the begining of my second trimester I kept telling my doctor that my discharge was very watery and that I thought I was leaking fluid, my doctor kept telling me everything was fine, tells you how much they know. Thanks again to you all, I can't tell how much it means to me.

KelliAnne: thanks for sharing with us. This could be very helpful to other women. Basically, you suspected something was wrong but your Dr dismissed it without taking a closer look or asking more about what you described as watery discharge. I think the lesson for all of us is that if we think something is wrong we should insist that our Drs do a thorough job in considering our concerns and checking things out rather than allowing the Dr to be lazy or save time by a__suming everything is alright. KelliAnne, what an ordeal this has been for you and your baby, but I'm so happy for you to know that you're hearing that little Hunter is progressing, 85% chance sounds very promising. I'll continue to pray.
