How Do I Tell If I M Dilated

We are 36 weeks my wife is having major pains lile our son is trying to digg his way out.i did a at home checkto see if there was any dilating. From what I have been reading the signs yhat they said I would feel was there.has anyone been thru this.

Honestly, I don't know what it looks like (only what it feels like!) but if she is having pains, you should go in to your doctor. Sometimes there are false labor pains that subside on their own a week or more before real labor begins.
