How Long To Wait For Amnio Results

For those of you who had an amnio, how many days did you have to wait to get the results??

I had the test on May 3rd, and had the results on May 12th. Good Luck!

I had my amnio on 8/17, go to the doctor this Thursday 9/1 and will hopefully have results..But, the genetics department at UAB where i went has a new test called a FISH test, which is kindof a snapshot of what your amnio results w/ be w/ a 97-98% accuracy rate and i got those results the day after my amnio and all that came back great, I had an amnio because i will be 39 when baby born....great news though will be having another boy,,,,so excited....my first son is 3, so i will have my two boys and will be set, no more after this one. my doc said that the reason it takes a couple of weeks is because they grow the cells from the baby that they harvest thru the amnio in the lab. It takes a couple of weeks for the cells to grow and then they are tested for all the varying genetic disorders, i.e., down, cystic, trisomy 18...and so on.

well, i got my results today! I had the test on August 22nd, so it took 8 days. Everything was fine and I'm having a boy!

My amnio is booked for September 8th, I was told it would take three weeks for the results. I live in Ontario, Cananda. From what the posts I've seen your results seem to arrived much faster in the States. Was anyone told the s_x of their child during the Ultra sound?

They asked me if i wanted them to guess because I had my anmio at 15 weeks, 4 days (which is a little early). She said boy and she was correct.
