Good morning everyone!! Hope you all have a great day, I was thinking last night about what I did for m/s. One of the things, was cut a whole bunch of lemons in slices and put a string thru them and slept with them (my m/s was really bad in the night as well.) and every time I felt queasy and going to vomit I sniffed or licked a lemon and it stoppped. Weird I know but it stopped-lol!

Hi Lovemy, Thx for the new thread. The lemon on a string is quite funny, the thought of licking a lemon in the middle of the night sounds pretty desperate, but desperate times call for desp. measures. I know peppermint really soothes my nausea, but I don't know if that works on m/s. Well, I've got a week left til AF. Not really feeling too optimistic this month again, but I'm holding out hope. Felt like we at least got the right dates using the OPKs & it certainly took the pressure off of bding every other night. Hope all is well.

Hello all! Thankfully my midnight pangs seemed to have subsided so it doesn't sound like I'll need the lemon slices but what a great idea!!!!!!! I can see how it would work as, at the moment, I seem to be addicted to Orange Juice (something I could take or leave before I was pregnant). Unfortunately, I still have to get up to pee so my night is still disrupted but I think I'm getting used to it now. Yesterday felt absolutely exhausted so thought a walk would do me good. It did but BOY did I walk slowly!! My husband had to practically push me along and at one point I thought I might throw up!!!! LOL!!! Still it was lovely to get out in the fresh air and I was rewarded with a delicious hot chocolate when we got to the end!! Hooray! **** Good luck KD with NOT getting AF - when will you start testing? lovemy3 - what CD are you on now? I hope you're both coping with the 2ww - you certainly sound very positive which is GREAT!! Baby dust to both of you. ***** I went to the (regular) doctor today to get my thyroid checked. She's sooooooooooooo nice and congratulated me on the pregnancy. She also asked if I'd had my iron levels checked yet and, as I hadn't, offered to do that as well. I go back on Monday for the results. Tomorrow is my big day for the next ultrasound with my OB/GYN. I'm very anxious that all will be well as it would mean that, by my calculations, I'll have made it further than my last pregnancy which will be a source of great relief. Wish me well - my stomach is in knots over it and I'm so glad that I have some chores and work to do to keep my mind off it for at least a few hours a day!! I'm counting the days until the first trimester is over, as I'm sure many of you are! Speak to you all soon.

Morning Everyone :-)
I found out i was pregnant last week (home test). Not planned as a gift as far as i'm concerned.Hubby is ok about it(phew), i already have 2 children 14 and 6. I haven't yet been to the doctors, i'm booked in for 13th, yes, next Friday, but nothing can deny the joy i feel at having another. Worried , yes, i'm 40, but after spening the last 2 days reading through some of this forum(thankyou ladies) i now feel more settled. I would like to know what test are now done, i'm in the UK. I now have decided that i don't want any tests that may harm the baby/cause mis/c. I'm not sure how many weeks i am, periods where a bit erratic, but i guess between 6/8.

Hi there and A WARM WELCOME to oldermum. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Re. the tests in the UK. I'm British but don't live there anymore so can't say for sure. However, I do know that each country has different procedures so the best thing you can do is ask your GP, Ob/Gyn or even Family Planning Clinic for some literature on the subject specific to the UK. Chances are they follow pretty much the same path as most countries re. amnio if you're over 35 but I don't think it's mandatory so you can opt out if you want. However, you should also read up on all your options so that you know why you're deciding against any of the tests available. Good luck on Friday next!! - try to forget that it's the 13th (LOL!!!) and let us know your updates!! Great to have you here!

Good morning ladies, I am glad everybody is doing well, thanks Lovemy3 fro the lemon idea, I will pa__s though, lemon make me nauseous without being pregnant, so I how would it be with pregnancy ?? loooooooool. Hope both you and KD will join us this month. SANN, I am fine thanks for asking about me, your symptoms are very healthy and good signs, wish you the best. Hopeful, I am having bad time sleeping at night, for the last 3 nights I am not sleeping well, I am not sure if its related to pregnancy or I am just worried about the whole issue. Oldermum, welcome to our group, I am sure we can use your experience : ) : ) . My updates, today is my first prenatal, I am terrified, I am trying to think positive all the times, but its really hard not to get worried and think negatively. I am 5weeks 1 day today, so far my symptoms are tender b___st mainly and some cramps once in a while, not nauseous as of yet, when did you start the nausea ladies? I have some back pain, not all the times but some days. VAL, how are you doing? TTYL

Hi there again! COL - good luck with your appointment today. I know exactly what you mean about being nervous - my next appointment is tomorrow morning and I'm a mixture between excited and terrified - should make for an interesting night's sleep!!! LOL!!!! lovemy3 - in answer to your question.... I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid nearly 2 years ago and so have to take medication for it. Also, when pregnant, apparently the thyroid can do funny things and so I have to make sure everything is regulated. Nothing traumatic though - just a blood test and an occasional ultrasound on my neck (makes a change from other parts of my body!! LOL!!!!) Anyway, I'm in week 11 at the moment so hopefully everything is going swimmingly. You're on CD 10 - not long to wait then!! How are you feeling? Positive I hope, even if you can't pinpoint any symptoms or anything. Sann - how are you? I hope the headaches have started to subside and that you're feeling better. TTYL and I'll let you know how the appointment goes!! Big hugs to all!

hi all... welcome Oldermum! HOPEFUL, a neck u/s? That sounds sort of uncomfortable! I'm on thyroid medication as well, but just a low dose of the natural hormone. KD, crossing my fingers for you! And LM3, just have lots of great bding! Get some in for me... we're still on a blackout here! COL, glad you are doing well. M/s started around the end of week 5 for me. It hasn't been very bad yet, but it's definitely present more often than not now. Just sort of low grade nausea, and a lot of food doesn't sound very good. Also, I'm really sensitive to smells. Ick - my first student today tends to wear a lot of cologne... not looking forward to that! I may have to ask him not to wear it when he comes for lessons! SANN, hope you're doing well. Are you still on bedrest or are you back to work? TRACY, where are you? I hope you're ok. The other thread (on the Infertility page) has been so quiet. Is the m/s really bad now? Miss ya... Hugs to all!

Val I just posted on our old thread on the infertility page. I miss those girls, wish some would check in. CC did though, so I am happy. I am feeling sick around the clock and it sucks! I actually cried today because I am so over it. I rarely vomit, but constantly feel like I am on the verge, and nothing really seems to help. I read and keep up with how everyone is doing first thing in the morning, but often don't feel good enough to sit here and type. I'm hoping it pa__ses soon. Life has come to a stand-still. For those of you who are further along, when did your morning sickness start to subside or has it yet?

Good morning everyone : ) Hi Oldermom, congrats and welcome!!! ***Hopeful - Nice to hear your midnight pangs had subsided. Oh yes orange juice .... I drink lots of it too, it really helps to ease the constipation for me. 11 weeks already : ) I'm so glad your having your next u/s tomorrow. I'm sure everything will be fine, just stay relaxed (I know it's easy said than done, I had b___terflies in my stomach and was a nervous wrack when I had my 1st three u/s and so was my dh) Other than thyroid and iron, what other tests did you so far? My ob/gyn ordered an Antenatal Study D (a series of blood tests) when I was in my 8th week. The tests are for 1) Blood count 2) Blood grouping (i.e Rh test) 3) Immunology (i.e. Hepat_tis antigen & antibody) 4) Hiv Anitbody screening (i.e. which is mandatory here) 4) Rubella 5) Toxoplasma antibody 6) Glucose (Fasting and Non-fasting) 7) Tala__saemia screen and also an Urine a___lysis. Oh boy ... I didn't realised it's was a handful then. From what I understand it's standard for ob/gynae (who had received formal training in O/B from the Uk and the US to order these tests. *** COL - Glad that you fine : ) Well ... my nausea started at the mid of the 5th week, then it got really bad a week later and I only started throw up my 7th week ..... everything time I brush my teeth in the morning and also in the evenings. I'm still feeling queasy these days but it isn't half as bad though. My ob/gyn said it mainly due the Hcg building up during the first 15 weeks or so and we should feel more like our old self once we hit the 16th week : ) but everyone is different so try not worry if it doesn't kick for you (my girlfriend did had any symptons other exhaustion during her 1st trimester) *** Lovemy3 - Cd10 ...it'll be bd time in a couple of days : ) Drink plenty of water for ewcm. Have you been taking your temps in the mornings??? That might give a good indication ... once you get a dip in temp then it's time to test ov. Well .. it's standard here too to have our weight taken. I'm doing better .... feeling less exhausted : ) *** Val - How are doing??? Yes!!!!! Still under orders to stay home for bedrest to stay away from the stress from work. I have more energy these days .... not staying in bed as much as before : ) : ) : ) As for work ... not working at all, I hope to work from home once I hit 2nd trimester. I'm doing ok except for the distrupted sleep due the "sinus" and having to pee, headches, queasiness from time to time, sour taste in mouth, gone off certain foods, constipation (due to progesterone supportories), some water retention in my lower back & hands and also the backaches .... I actually feel better as compared to the past few week when I was totally exhausted and feeling really sick .... I was in bed most of the time. *** Tracy - Sorry you're feeling sick ... I totally know how it feels. Hang in there ... I was told once you hit the 9th/10th week, you'll start to feel better. My morning sickness started to sudside at the end of the 9th week but I do get once in a while these days when I brush my teeth in the morning ... mostly feeling nauseous from time to time. *** KD - Happy bding : ) : ) Ladies .... I hit week 12 on Sunday, time seem to pa__s really slow hah!!!!! **** To Lovemy3 and KD ..... Baby dusts to the both of you : ) And to all mommies to be .... let's us all hang in there. Think I'll stop here ... my back is starting to ache. Talk to you soon : )

Hello all! Great news from me - my bean is 40mm long and has arms, legs and a heartbeat!! FANTASTICO!!! I am so happy and at last feel like this is becoming real for me. I also feel like I can relax a bit more as things seem to be moving in the right direction! They took blood for the usual tests which Sann detailed in her last post and urine and weight (SCARY!!! LOL!!) so I now have to carry around all my information in a little booklet - makes me feel VERY important!! Of course, I got a picture too which is wonderful and it looks a bit like the bean is either playing table tennis or drinking a very small pint of Guinness!!! (Tee hee hee!) It was just like Sann described when she talked about the teddy bear pose!! I've also got an appointment for my NTscan and blood test/screenings on the 23rd October and then my next OB/Gyn on the 31st when I'll have to decide about the amnio or not. (Anyone know how long it normally takes to get the results of the bloodtests and NT?) So all is well and I'm elated! How are you all doing? Val - the neck ultrasound for thyroid is to check that it's not getting any bigger and isn't any more uncomfortable than someone slapping a load of jelly on your neck (LOL!!) so it's fine really. Tracy - sorry to hear your m/s is still icky. Mine has got much better in the last few weeks (which of course made me worry) but it still comes at me on occasion. Sann - sorry to hear that you're still feeling a whole range of symptoms but at least you know that all is well. How are you today? oldermum, KD, lovemy3, COL - hope you're all doing well today - looking forward to your updates!! YIPPEE!!

Hello Ladies, I'm really enjoying reading all of your preggo posts, well, not the m/s ones. Those I just feel really bad for. I'm so happy for all of you. It's such an exciting time. You're carrying around this little fantastic secret. I love the table tennis/Guinness visual, Hopeful.lol I'm so glad you got some rea__surance. As for me, I'm down to the wire. AF is due on Wed. I''d bet money on her showing up though. I had some cramping this am w/ that sticky yellowish ewcm that usually comes a few days before AF, so I'm guessing I'll start spotting early. I'm getting bummed, but holding onto a bit of hope still. Stay healthy!

Hi all : ) Hopeful - You make me laugh ... playing tennis and drinking Guiness : ) Did you get to see your little bean move??? Dh & I ... we aren't really if saw our little bean move cos the movement was so tiny but we thought it was throwing punches or something : ) You're right ... as least I know things as going accordingly (as it should be) .... no complaints : ) Today .... m/s decides to come back and my headaches are pretty much hitting me anytime of the day and night .... basically everything remains the same. I'm glad to hear you got the blood test done. My ob/gynae ... haven't suggest NT screening at all due to the high in "fasle positive" (it would be nerve wracking to get a high positive then having to wait for amino to be done). So she suggested doing amino at 16 weeks by a fetal specialist (due the slight risk). We had confirm appointment for amino on the 13th Nov. Next appointment with my ob/gynae for a fellow and u/s is on the 20th Oct. KD - So glad you're staying positive : ) Have you been taking you bbt in the morning? I hope your temps stays really : ) COL - How did your first visit go??? Update up soon. Hope you're doing well : ) Val, Tracy and Lovemy3 .... how are you girls doing? I won't be able to write this weekend .... have fun girls. Talk to you all on Monday. Baby dust and belly rubs : ) : ) : )

Morning all! I've got a really busy day ahead (Yuck!!) so thought I'd get my post in now. How's everyone today? Good I hope! I'm still feeling great about yesterday despite having a nauseous night and feeling exhausted as a result!! Not looking forward to all the work I have to do today and hoping I'll be able to get a break at some point. Anyway, that's all my news. Sann - sorry to hear the headaches are still at you. Make sure you're keeping yourself hydrated, get out into the fresh air for at least an hour a day and keep rested. Some of that might help! Re. my decision to do the NT - I know EXACTLY what you mean about the horrible likelihood of a false positive and the wait for amnio results after that would be horrendous (especially as I'm such a worrier!! LOL!!). However, on the other hand there's also a possibility that I could get really GOOD odds (I'm thinking positively for once - LOL!!) and then we'd probably decide against the amnio altogether. Unfortunately I have to pay (extortionate amounts!! LOL!!) for the NT whereas the amnio is free but I think it's worth it if it means I don't have to have the more intrusive testing. Re. my bean moving - I'm a bit like you in that I think I may have seen an arm move about but then the Ob/Gyn was wiggling the "wand" about so much at that point that it may have just been my imagination. Still I'm going to hold on to the fact that it was a wave!!! Anyway, must go as I'm late already - tee hee hee - have a great day all and I'll TTYL!!
