Welcome TTC#3......we are a very ecclectic bunch here! We have preggos and future preggos, so feel free to post. Many of us have been through every realm of TTC there is, so you should have a great support system here. OK guys.....here's the deal with me. I have now taken Tylenol #3 for the last 5 days at the end of the day because my back pain is just unbearable. I put ice on it, went for the ma__sage, etc.... but nothing is working and I don't know how much longer I can go on like this. The fear and guilt that I have for taking the codeine is so overwhelming, that if the baby doesn't move, I fear that I have done something horrible to her. What the hell should I do? I called and made an appointment with the back doctor for Monday. They couldn't see me sooner because he is out of town. I just left a message at the OB's office because I feel like I am at my wits end. I won't even tell my husband that I have taken the Tylenol with codeine. I spent the entire first trimester of this pregnancy in bed, am I expected to get back in bed for the last 3? I don't know if I can do that without really losing my mind.

Thanks! Glad to be here... Stressing about TTC stinks alone. We've been TTC for just 2 cycles so far. My first 2 DDs were conceived at 13 & 10 cycles (this one was clomid baby). NOW im 35 have a new soon to be DH & TTC again.. One potential problem is that he is a paraplegic & then that I'm 35.. We're trying on our own until we get married (thats when insurance would cover any alternatives) then maybe will try IVF. Currently 7dpo!

Hi TTC3, I am 37 yr old and have 3 kids and am ttc#4. My first 3 were concieved first month no problems and now have been ttc#4 for 1 yr ,I s'd say with a few months off in between. I have been ttc naturally and will be seeing a dr on jan 30 for the first time about this. I suspect its age related and hopefully a matter of time but like I said I haven't had any tests done yet so who knows. you caught me on a bad day , just got af and am very sad. But Welcome and I'm glad you are here!

TTC #3, I am going to be 37 in February. It took me two years to conceive and this is just #1. I did clomid, had a laparoscopy, and then got PG with a cycle of injectables. I am currently 23 weeks with a girl we have named Savannah Skye. Obviously I am having excruciating back pain and have gained a whopping 35 pounds so far!!!! I think that's why my back hurts so bad.......because I am not young anymore and I am not carrying all this weight very well.

lovemy3 - Just want to say how sorry I am that AF arrived as I know you were feeling good about this month (so was I). I wish I had some words of comfort but there don't seem to be any which are suitable. I'm just glad that you will see the specialist soon and, judging by your incredibly strong character, you'll be raring to go with the questions by then. Try and take a rest between now and your appointment, gather your thoughts and drink a few gla__ses of wine for me! ********** No time to post my news but glad to see everyone's so chatty today (beginning to wonder if that only happens when I'm not "here" to bore everyone senseless?!?!? LOL!) but I will update tomorrow and tell you all about my great meeting with the midwife. TTC#3 - welcome to you - great to have you aboard. Looking forward to hearing more about your story. Must go now but TTY all tomorrow! XOXOXOX

We did tons of bding at the perfect times, had perfect EWCM, everything was perfect but it just isn't happening. Gosh, If I had of stopped at 3 I would have never known this horrible pain of infertility, but then again I would have never met all you girls. xox

So anyway, the midwife appointment was so great. I feel like I’m better armed with both information and support as a result because she answered all my petty questions and also gave me her telephone number should I need her at anytime. The only shame is that she won’t be able to attend the birth but I’m meeting the hospital midwives at the prenatal cla__ses starting in 2 weeks, so I should get to know them pretty well too during that time. She also told me not to worry about travelling (DH and I are going away for our “last holiday alone for a while” on Sunday and I was concerned that we’d be driving for about 7hours but she said as long as we take breaks it should be fine – oh yes, and we can always turn around again!!!) and said that the sugar in my urine was nothing to worry about because it will be checked at the next appointment (in two weeks) and it will probably have disappeared again by then. One piece of information I found out which I didn’t know at all was the fact that if you are giving birth in a birthing pool you can’t have an epidural. This suits me fine as I didn’t want any medication anyway so this will reduce the temptation at the crucial time because it’s far more important for me to give birth in water. I will still “book” an epidural in case of an emergency but now my husband and I have agreed that I’ll only use it if I’m “in extremis” (The midwife pointed out that there is no medical necessity for an epidural – it is available simply to numb the pain – which I also thought was an interesting and supportive way to look at it if you’re trying for a birth without too much medical intervention.) Anyway, she was with us for over an hour and a half and never rushed through anything so I really feel that I’ve got someone who I can talk to who is both friendly and knowledgeable – how great is that? Lovedblessings – great to hear that things are staying stable for you despite the pain of the baby’s kicks……..at least you know he’s there. Re. my legs after work – it’s actually my lower back which gets me more. My legs feel more tired when I’m sleeping than they do during the day – weird, uh? Re. my EDD moving – I’m taking it all with a pinch of salt to be honest because the baby will decide when it’s coming after all won’t it?!!! But it is fun to think it might come earlier! (Although, I’m certainly NOT wishing that it comes too early!!!) Sann – great to hear your update (29 weeks – wow!!!!!!) and that you can now relax a bit more at home after your hectic schedule. Re. the name game – I’ve not been searching so much recently coz I’ve been too busy, but we have about 3 possibilities for each gender so I’m hoping that will be enough to choose from on the day! BM5 – nearly halfway! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Great news! Things will really start moving for you now! I know exactly what you mean about the baby stuff being overwhelming though. Thankfully I’ve two bags of second hand clothes coming my way from friends or family and then a baby shower in March after which my mum (who will be visiting at that time) and I will go and get what’s left on the list. So now I don’t feel too overwhelmed as most of the little stuff will be already done and the big stuff like prams, cots etc are “musts” so I can’t get too choosy over them. Tracy – Sounds like your husband’s brother’s wife is jealous if you ask me – I wouldn’t let it get to you. From what the books say, everyone puts on weight differently when they’re pregnant and as long as there’s no need to be concerned healthwise then enjoy your pregnancy and forget what cruel comments people make – they just want to feel superior (it’s a form of bullying!) and you can rise above that by just ignoring it. You must also stop feeling guilty about taking the painkillers – think about the stress you would put your baby under if you were in pain? If your OB has approved it, there’s nothing to worry about. On a lighter note - I’m with you totally on not knowing "what to expect or which decisions I will actually make, change, or even stick with” but I think that’s a good thing actually because then we have no preconceived ideas which might restrict us. I think flexibility is going to be a great virtue!! Val – too funny about your MIL framing the p___s picture!!!! Yep – that’s definitely going to be one for his 18th birthday party!! LOL!!! ********** That’s all (!!!) for me for now. Hope everyone is well – sorry if I’ve forgotten someone. Big Hugs to everybody and TTYL! XOXOXOX

Morning everyone! Thank you so much for all the info babymakes5. I hope to get everyone right.. in time! Tracy88 i was reading about your back pain & i feel your pain, you poor thing. You said you had bed rest in 1st trimester, how come? You'll just to be extra careful about what your doing, lifting, walking, getting up from sitting. Take it easy on yourself. Have you tried rubbing your back with Tiger Balm? Lovemy3 - how much time have you waited in between your last pregnancy? & I am sooo sorry about AF.. HATE HER. Alittle more about myself, I went in January & had a sonogram & EA (endrometrial aspiriate) done because I was having a great amount of cramping & blood/clot loss during AF, BUT they say nothing was wrong... no endrometris, no cysts or fibroids, but did have a very think uterine lining due to my estrogen level which they said was high but i should not have any fertility problems due to that. Plus one little fun thing that i have been getting since I turned 35 is cramps all during my cycle. It'll start alittle before O then about 2-3days after I have cramps til AF. Anyone know what that is about?
Hopeful - good luck to on you water birth.

TTC#3......I was on bed rest in the first trimester because of the hormone shots I did to get PG. I had very high HCG numbers, so they did an ultrasound in my fifth week and realized two things: one, I had twins in there, and two: my ovaries were so overstimulated and LARGE that they could rupture if I made the wrong moves. They couldn't do anything to help with the size of the ovaries since I was PG, and they naturally start to decrease in size on their own in the 6th week, but mine took until about week 10 or 11. I was in for U/S's every two weeks throughout my first trimester, so I have one of the most photographed babies around!!!! I called the OB's office yesterday and talked to the nurse about my back pain and need for the meds, so she said she was going to talk to the doc and get back to me today on whether continuing the codeine is feasible or what? They know I have an appt. on Monday for my back with the neurologist, but I just wasn't sure I could go on one more day like this. I can't spend everyday on drugs, there has to be an alternative. I tried some stretching and ice last night, but have yet to try the Tiger Balm. I will put that on my list of things to get at Whole Foods. TTC#3......I know nothing about EA's, but your cycle sounds like mine did before my laparoscopy and I did have endo. I had a whole little mess going on in my abdomen. They removed one of two fibroids, endo from my ovaries, bladder, and elsewhere, cysts from my fallopian tubes, polypoid tissue in the uterus, and loads of extra tissue just clogging up my uteran cavity. I had one period after my lap which was very clear and clean, then did the shots and got PG right away. I used to feel cramping all cycle long too. By the time AF cramps went away (and those were freaking awful), I would start having abdominal discomfort that lasted the rest of the cycle. Hmmmmmm. LM3......don't give up hope. Your appointment is soon and you will feel better when armed with the knowledge you learn from bloodwork etc.... I believe things are going to be looking up for you soon after that appointment.

Oh, I also meant to mention that I lost one of my twins at 8 and half weeks, so after they took me off of bed rest at about week 10ish, 3 days later I started bleeding. There was no indication that anything was wrong with me, the doc just thinks the bleeding came from the vanishing twin; however, they put me back on bed rest for another three weeks. So you see, I don't want more bed rest unless they are going to medicate me and just make me sleep through it. I would lose my freaking mind being wide awake day in and day out!!!

Tracy88- WOW you have everything BUT the kitchen sink in your uterus! HAHAHA. My sister just had a hysterectomy because she had endro & enormous fibroids that made here uterus twice the size it should have been, so I am alittle concerned that I might also, BUT they checked everything & said that it normal. Could they be wrong? They said that it is normal for women over 35 to experience what I am. (I havent told them of the cramping tho) SO happy to hear how quick after the removal of all that you are pg! An EA procedure is when dr put a suction tube into my uterus & suctioned (aspirates) pieces out. If there was excessive endrometrial tissue in those pieces then it could mean it spread to the outside. Have you or would you consider acupuncture for your back? Might be worth looking into?

Yeah, and I even forgot to mention the adhesions pinning my ovaries down! Like I said before, I don't know much about aspirations, but what if there is endo elsewhere like I had? What then? The only way I was told someone could know for sure the extent of their endo was to do a laparoscopy. Has anyone mentioned one to you? On the subject of acupuncture.....I have thought about it many times, but can never seem to get to doing it. I guess because I would like someone to be recommended to me rather than just going by an ad or the phone book. I don't know anyone who has had it done around here or knows anybody, so I procrastinate.

Hi all... It's my Saturday... yay! I work Mondays- Wed and again on Saturdays, so Thursday/Fridays are my days off (although I do have one guitar cla__s to teach tonight and 2 lessons tomorrow... normally I see at least 8 students a day so an hour of teaching is not much.). TTC#3 - welcome. I'm crossing my fingers for you this cycle. When is your wedding? A bit about me: I just turned 37, due with first child in May. Got pg in June 05 after ttc 3 months, but had mc in August of that year. It then took a year to get pg. I was on my 3rd cycle of clomid, and first round of progesterone when I got pg. I also did acupuncture and hypnotherapy. Still amazed and very happy to be 22 weeks into this pregnancy. LM3, I'm so sorry about AF. I know how frustrating it is when you feel like you hit all the right dates. I'm really hoping that going for that appt helps... I think that the more information you can get about your body while ttc, the better. I'm also very sorry about your friend's mc. TRACY, I don't think you overreacted about the weight remark - that was totally mean and insensitive of her. It's good you won't have to see her much anymore - you don't need people like that in your life! Sorry your back pain is so severe and that the specialist can't get you in until Monday. I think calling your OB was the right thing to do - that's what I kept doing while on the Unisom when I was worried about how long to take it for. Hopefully they'll get back to you soon. BABYM5 - That's exciting that you'll find out the s_x soon! I definitely felt more bonded when I could refer to our baby as a "he" rather than "it"! Once he started kicking more I felt more bonded as well... seems more real now that I can feel activity going on in there. Our first baby shopping/browsing trip was overwhelming as well. We didn't buy anything. I think we're planning on getting the co-sleeper, changing table, and maybe a dresser (although we have one that will work for a while, so we may be able to hold off) and then wait until after my shower on April 1st to get the rest of the stuff. My best friend just sent me 2 boxes of bottles, nipples, dishwasher bottle holders, etc. so we should be good on that stuff for a while, especially since I'm planning on b___stfeeding, and probably won't start pumping until at least a month after the baby is born. HOPEFUL, your midwife appt sounded great! I wish I could do a waterbirth but we already live 25 minutes from the nearest hospital and I didn't want to have to drive an hour to Portland for a birthing center. I am having a doula though... I think we're meeting with her next week. I'm hoping she will be a good advocate for me with the hospital staff and will help me stick to my plans to skip the epidural and episiotomy. I think the hypnobirth cla__s we're starting soon will help also. Are you doing a hypnobirthing cla__s? I guess I'll sign off now... this has been a long post! I'll check back later today... I'm supposed to be working on tax stuff and I know I'll want some distractions! :-)
