Definitely don't go bowling unless you just sit there and keep score. I think that bowling is a great idea because it keeps you close and does spark conversation, so if you have the willpower to sit & keep score, then go do that. COL, stay strong and forget about the witch at the clinic. I went for an U/S this morning and I have good news and not-so-good news. The good news is that the baby weighs 2.8 pounds, is strong, cute, and healthy, measuring a week ahead. The not so great news is that my cervix is short at 1.8 when they want it at least a 3 or 4. I am not dialated however. This can indicate the beginnings of pre-term labor, so I go back on Monday morning for a test on my cervix (FFN) to see what is going on. I am officially on modified bed rest for now, and then Monday's test will determine if I join LovedB on full bed rest. She was head down today, which they said is normal. They absolutely confirmed that she is a she. So, I am going to lay down now and gain even more weight!

COL - congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you! Sorry that nurse was rude... they should know better than to talk with patients like that. But I'm so happy you got your BFP! Try to think positive thoughts (try to envision your little one nestling in and getting ready for a long stay!) and just take it easy as much as possible. TRACY - Happy Birthday, woman! Too bad you have to go on bed rest again, but I hope you have a nice b-day anyway. LB and BM5 - thanks for asking about the pain. I did finally talk with the nurse yesterday. I guess the doctor thinks it's probably ligament pain. It's not so much in my hip anymore as in my lower right front pelvic area. It does feel a little like the ligament pain I get when I sneeze. My next appt is scheduled for next Thursday, so I guess I'll wait until then to go in. I do have a ma__sage scheduled for today - looking forward to her working on my crampy right calf! Baby M5 - I agree with Tracy - probably best for you not to bowl but it would be a fun family gathering! LB - your urine sample/doctor story made me laugh! Luckily most of the u/s techs I've had haven't wanted/needed a full bladder. It sounds like it's often the tech's preference. HOPEFUL - at the first hypnobirth session, the teacher (a labor and delivery nurse who used hypnobirthing for her 2nd child) talked about the philosophy behind hypnobirth, which is basically the idea that self-relaxation can be used to stay out of the fear-tension-pain syndrome. Advocates of hypnobirthing believe that when women get fearful, they tense up and go into the fight-or-flight reflex which reduces the flow of blood to the uterus. Basically your body starts fighting the contractions which then become more drawn-out and painful than they might otherwise have been. So the idea is to be able to slip easily into a relaxed state so that you aren't tensing up and fighting what your body is trying to do (which is to use uterine muscles to open the cervix and move the baby downward). I actually tried the relaxation thing the other night when I was having muscle spasms in my leg and it seemed to help. I'm supposed to be doing homework (breathing exercises and listening to the cd she gave us) to practice the relaxation techniques. I'll fill you in on more after our next cla__s... Sorry if this is long-winded... I just find the whole mind-body connection really interesting, and I'm convinced that the hypnotherapy I did in August/Sept really help me conceive, so I'm hoping it can help me say no to the drugs and such during delivery! But we'll see... :-)
