what is the best way when you go to someone's house and they light up in front of you smoking. i dont care what people did 20- years -ago like smoking in front of there kids. I dont want my unborn baby or newborn to be exposed to smoke. I am so mad because my husband does not speak up

I'm guessing this is someone you are close to and the baby will be around later too? If you can't remove yourself from the situation, you may just have to nicely speak up and say you are concerned about 2nd hand smoke, but still enjoy their company.

I have the same concerns. It's difficult because you're a guest in their home. First, I'd say to just try to avoid the situation in the first place, i.e. don't visit while you're pregnant or invite them to your place where you can call the shots. Or you can try expressing your concerns to them beforehand, kindly decline and tell them why, maybe they will offer to refrain while your over. Other option would be to just leave the room when they light up, course 2nd hand smoke lingers and it could get awkward, but you've got to look out for health and that of your baby. I've got similarly sticky situation - my brother's girlfriend wants to fly across the country for the birth of my son, but she's a major chain smoker. She already knows that we don't allow smoking in the house, but with a newborn I'm pretty sure I'm going to be even more a___l about it. I don't even want her holding the baby if she smells like an ashtray. It means a lot to me that she wants to be here for the birth, but I don't know what to do/say.

i would just find a reason that you needed to go early, and then next time you are invited over, explain to them that the smoking is unhealthy for your unborn child and thank them for the invite. You could invite them over to your non-smoking home instead. If they are your friends they will understand i think.
