This site is a God-send. I really look forward to the replies, questions and concerns of every single person on here. Perl your advice was just great on telling my Mom. She can't blame me for holding back on telling her when her response was less than welcoming last time. Also Perl, I felt b___terflies in my stomach when you explained your miscarriage and the effect it had on your dad. When I went in last week for my ultrasound I was trying to play it cool..but I was dying inside. The technician seemed so bland when she was marking the borders etc. The confirmation came when she tilted the screen towards me and showed me the yolk sac the flashing light and the tiny fetus. Again...BEST OF LUCK!! tomorrow with your ultrasound..I have faith everything will be just fine..

P.S. I agree with Perl's advice on walking and getting some light excercise. I have had barely any nausea or feeling overly tired this time around..I feel that alot has to do with my excercise regime.
Take care

Congrats to everyone who saw their little one's heartbeats!!!! Yay! Morning sickness is also still hitting me...a couple things I've found that help are making sure to eat lots of small meals. Snacking seems to work for me - like MellyMel, If I go too long without eating, I get nauseous. I also keep a little bowl of pretzels by my bed, and try to eat one or two about 15 minutes before I get up - that seems to help. My midwife suggested to keep liquids and solids separate - no drinks when eating, etc. and so far so good - the few times I've mixed liquids and solids, I've ended up running for the bathroom. I've also been hit with the major hormonal emotional roller-coaster ride. My poor DH! In the span of 20 minutes, I was snapping at him, then laughing hysterically, then snapping again, and then getting all teary! (He just shook his head and said "how long does this part last?" LOL) I'm also going through the same mixed emotions about the pregnancy. Sigh. I guess that's normal for all of us. Kristin - I know how you feel about your mom's reaction. When we told my mother-in-law, her first response was "you should have just gotten a dog." She may have been joking, but it really hurt our feelings. She's been nice since then, but I still feel a bit of resentment for the way she reacted. (actually, she was pretty non emotional about it the first time i was pregnant, and when I had the m/c, as well) - But as Perl said, that is their problem, not ours, and there are so many other people to be supportive. We've started telling close family and friends, and other than the MIL, everone has been wonderful. Good luck to all of you at your appointments this week!

Today's ultrasound appointment was perfect, thank God!! I was so relieved and happy to see that little heart beating, 132 beats per min. The size was 8.3 mm and I'm 6 weeks, 6 days along. Due date is Nov 22 (day before Thanksgiving and a week after my birthday). : ) I just noticed that it has been only 10 days since we started this discussion but it has seemed like an eternity for me waiting for today's appointment. Somehow reading what all of you ladies have to say has made the last 10 days a little easier so thanks to each one of you! I'll pray that everything continues to go well for each one of us. I am so happy about today's results but I have to admit that I'm still a little worried. I wish I could just be blissfully happy and go buy a bunch of maternity clothes and baby stuff, etc. but I'm still a little fearful of miscarriage--when will this fear go away? Oh well, I'm still going to celebrate and be little less anxious knowing that I have a tiny but growing little heart beating away inside of me.

I went for my first appointment this morning and it went well. They have scheduled me for an ultrasound for next Thursday. She said I look and am doing great. She wrote me out some bloodwork that I need to get done. I think it's just to check for rubella and stuff like that. It's the normal bloodwork they usually do at your first appointment. I was so nervous. I can't wait for my ultrasound. I'm still doing good with all my symptoms. Nothing to severe that I can't handle(at least yet). Thanks for your concern ladies and hope you are all well too!! Melly xo

Hey Ladies how are you all doing today. Well i went to the doctor today and he did my pelvic exam and said everything looked good. I'm scheduled to go to the hospital on 4/11 to have a ultrasound done so i can't wait for that. But i feel so much better with the spotting because my doctor ressured me that it is not unusual to spot and it has to do with your hormones so i'm excited about my pregnancy and i'm finally starting to feel better. MellymMe i'm glad all was well with your appointment too.

UGH...to add insult to injury!.
I went to my OB for the 1st time. I got called back, put in the room and the MA started asking the basic questions. Then she iasked if I wanted to deliver at hospital A or B. Uh, I need to deliver at hospital C. She stopped delivering there!!! I am 38 and had preeclampsia or threatened it with my son. So here I am pregnant with no OB. I was debating whether to see a perinatologist or stick with the OB. I guess my decision was made for me....grrrr.

Congratulations to Perl on seeing the heartbeat! And also to MellyMel and aalexand on good Dr. visits! You'll both see good heartbeats at your ultrasounds!Christa - sorry things are going rough for you right now. Are there any other OB's that you are OK with? Maybe your old OB can recommend someone? You have a little time to find someone, and you definately want to be comfortable with whoever you work with. I wish you good luck on your search. XO

Okay, I'm going to change my name....old gal just sounds too...well, old. I am 43 and older than most of you, which does put me at a higher m/c risk (Gawd forbid). I'll chage it to HAPPY Gal.
Wow, I'm so thrilled that so many little heartbeats are going strong. Christa and Perl, way to go!! others will do fine, too. DOn't sweat the waiting...I know easier said than done. My babies hearteat was only 125 at 6 weeks 6 days. I was a little worried it was too slow, but I think it's within normal range. Just another thing to worry about. I hear you on emotional rollercoaster. ANd today, I woke up with sore b___bs...I thought I would escape that one. I'm trying to get rhough work. Can't eat or drink ANYTHING and need to take short naps every few hours....Since I've never been pregnant this long before, I have no idea what else to expect. I'm just nervous that everything goes on okay. MY RE said I can go for another ultrasound in a few weeks if I can't wait unilt the 11 weeker. I think I'll need to........
